Match report

This was our second hit out for the year, this time up against the old Foe Hahndorf. Historically games have always been tough against Hahndorf and this game did not disappoint.

What unfolded over the two halves was a hard fought arm wrestle which became a battle of the defences. Both teams were blessed with good attacking options which resulted in both goal keepers being very busy.

Jordan Vardy started up front and with exciting pace caused the opposition some major headaches, even more pleasing was his ability to drop back into defence and win the ball in dispute and clear it down the lines.

Josh Constable’s (2 great goals) usual workhorse effort provided him with many goal scoring opportunities and linked up beautifully was some delicious passing to Elliot Klein who continued to finish brilliantly with a hattrick of goals. Charlie Barret also caused the Hahndorf defence considerable anxiety with his ability to control the ball and gain space deep into the penalty box.

Sam Trigg had his first run with the team in midfield and provided some excellent defensive options and close down the counter attacks. Jamie Spooner continued to improve and benefited with another run in midfield.

Finn Cradock generalled the defensive line regularly coming deep forward to close off forward attacks whilst Nate Dealtry played one of his best games with excellent decision making and some great runs out of defence.

Axel Vassos donned the keeper gloves on again and had a busy morning providing a number of good saves.

In summary a thoroughly entertaining game from both sides providing 8 goals in total. Final score favouring Woodside 5-3.
