Hahndorf Soccer Club vs Stirling Districts Soccer Club

Round 6 U7s Hahndorf v Stirling Districts at Summit Sports & Recreation Park saw the first round of a trial modified game, being two simultaneous 4v4 on half-sized pitches with no goalkeepers. With the help of soccer star Harriet Bartsch, who generously assisted as our second coach, the games commenced.

Chloe Pippos, Hamish Holmes, Axel Pym, and Avery Buchanan took to pitch 2 first, with Asa Bartsch and Alfie McConville eagerly awaiting on the sidelines. Stirling Districts moved quickly and snapped the first goal. Hahndorf showed great determination and lots of little legs were running with passion! Pippos and Buchanan substituted off and Bartsch and McConville took the pitch, where everyone had touches and a few wayward kicks for goal. Once Hahndorf scored their first goal, off a lightning kick from A. Bartsch, it seemed to open the flood gates, which resulted in smiles all-round! Half time and the boys all enjoyed a well-earned orange and watermelon break.

After half time, the second group of Finn Bond, Ryan Glynn, William Moran, and Victor Bartsch took to Pitch 1, with Patrick Griggs as substitute. V. Bartsch’s defense was exceptional, and he held this part of the pitch solidly. Bond applied excellent pressure, with Moran assisting with very impressive ball control. The boys showed outstanding teamwork, with strong defense, brave saves, and fast running. Hahndorf’s determination showed, applying great pressure ensuring further goal attempts were well covered.

Bartsch’s skills were on fire, sending the ball into the back of the net to the happiness of all teammates and Hahndorf spectators. After a moment of congestion in front of Hahndorf’s goal, Bond scored the last goal for Hahndorf.

A valiant effort for all team players and although Stirling was the stronger of the teams on the day, it was wonderful to see all the smiles and sweaty faces for playing with such determination! The Hahndorf team and officials would like to thank the Stirling Districts team and officials for an exciting game.

Woodside Warriors Red Vs Murray Bridge

Woodside – 9:00am

What a beautiful morning to be hosting Murray Bridge; the sun is shining, and the guys are buzzing. After the game last week, everyone's confidence is through the roof and they're all eager to impress the crowd with their fresh skills and score a few goals. A number of the boys commented on the size difference between the two teams as we lined up to start the game, but our little warriors were determined to show that size doesn't matter.

Our youngsters demonstrated their willingness to get involved and have a go during the first half's intense physical clash. Our midfielders creating plenty of forward momentum, Freddie, Luca, Jesse, Eddie and Owen all appeared to run the ball into a group of giants before popping out the other side still in control of it. In order to stop a quick-hitting opponent, our defence held firm and was able to read the play effectively. Mitchell, Scott, and Nathaniel were able to float across the field and clear the ball, building a solid defence that would prove difficult for any attack to get past.

Archer & Scott handled the chores of net protection, A fast paced opposition kept our goalies busy. Showing some amazing skills and blocking some really potent strikes. They did a great job of keeping the players informed and making sure the defence was properly positioned at all times. When the ball reached their area, both pounced, preventing the opposition from having a second chance to get a shot off.

In the second half, After controlling the majority of the game's play, we deservedly hit the scoreboard. Daniel our striker was able to score a couple of goals after receiving wonderful assists from a few different players. The guys held their positions and performed their jobs excellently, demonstrating that if we can all do our part for the team, results will come.

This was by far the best game the boys have played. It was fantastic to see that every person on the field contributed to our second goal as the ball was passed about, through a tough defence, and to our striker in the ideal position. Great job, boys! You really proved to a bigger opponent that the most important part of the game is teamwork & skill!

Hahndorf Soccer Club vs Rangers Junior Soccer Club

The Rangers came out flying with an early goal followed shortly after by another strong kick slipping just through Eric Jager’s hands. Hahndorf turned up the defence with Carter Karamanov and Will Neelawala helping protect the goals but the Rangers were determined and pushed forward for another well placed kick into the net. Next time the Rangers offensive pressure was blocked by Brooklyn Karamanov who got the ball to Kealan Atkinson for a great dribble down the pitch. C. Karamanov pushed it forward hoping to finish it off, but a tackle by the Rangers send it back the other way. Art Neville and Atkinson slowed them down with a great block but they fought on, sending it into the back of the net again.

Despite the kicks getting through, keeper Jager stood strong and managed a few great saves. A goal kick out saw the ball delivered down to Hahndorf’s end by W. Neelawala, C. Karamanov and B. Karamanov. Rangers defence were fighting hard, but Atkinson managed an excellent goal from the corner of the box. This was celebrated with some huge cheers and hugs from his teammates! Charlie Kilpatrick and captain Zeek Neelawala put on some great pressure, slowing down the Rangers but unable to stop the Rangers striker who wound up for a huge kick at goal. Keeper Jager was onto it with an amazing save, followed up by another save within 30 seconds - not giving in under the relentless attack.

W. Neelawala started off the second half with some great defence, getting the ball to B. Karamanov who ran it down but was met with strong defensive pressure from the Rangers. A swift heel kick by Jager turned it back around with W. Neelawala pushing forward and finishing with a kick just down the side of the goal. Back at the Rangers end a throw in led to a tussle in front of the box, Hahndorf trying hard to help keeper Atkinson but unable to stop the determined striker. This was followed soon after by another strong kick into the net by Rangers.

Hahndorf weren’t giving up though, with B. Karamanov taking a few good runs down the pitch and a shot on goal by Kilpatrick, saved by Rangers keeper. C. Karamanov, Neville and Jager showed good defensive pressure, slowing them down prior to a great save by Atkinson. Rangers kept attacking though, forcing Atkinson to keep watch, making a couple more excellent saves before the final whistle!

Woodside Warriors Soccer Club Gold vs Woodside Warriors Soccer Club Blue

The Gold team entered Saturday's match yet to notch a win and were up against the mightly Blue team which had only lost one match so far.

The first five minutes was played in the middle of the pitch with neither team gaining the upper hand. Jo Smith was nullifying any Blue attack on the right while Toby Reichmann on the other side of the pitch was also stopping all incoming balls. His long kicks were hitting their mark as Gold took the ascendancy. After a short sprint Logan Pielago lobbed a beautiful shot over the goalkeeper and Gold had taken a surprise lead.

Zaion Lorefice was passing well in the midfield and again Logan was set free and scored with a low hard shot. Jack Hogan was everywhere, pressuring his opponents into mistakes and intercepting passes in his best game so far. Just before half-time captain-of-the-day Logan scored his first ever hat-trick.which won't be his last.

Surprised at their result at the break, the Gold team didn't let up and continued to run and press. Ashley "I don't like to play in defence" Hendrie was brilliant, reading the play well to turn back the Blue attacks time and again. One of his passes found Stefan Sims who fired a shot past the goalkeeper. Minutes later Stefan could have scored again had it not been for the Blue's goalkeeper Liam making "the save of the century" which brought massive applause from around the ground. Then another pass fell to Toby Smith who, after a long sprint, duly scored.

Finally an exhuberant Gold team had scored a win which for many was their first-ever victory on a soccer pitch.

Special mention to Ryland's mum Sara from the Blues who stepped up to be a great referee and prove the girls can do just as good a job as the boys.

Hahndorf Soccer Club White vs F.C Summit Green

Handorf’s Under 9s White team took on the FC Summit Under 9s at the Anembo Park in Mount Barker on Saturday morning.
Hahndorf started with Kaylee Sheremetjev as goalkeeper, Eden Stell and Charlotte Rymer in defence position, Holly Pippos and Amelie Rymer as midfielders and Saskia Merry and Vesna Barska in attack.
Sheremetjev started strongly, defending several goal shots, helped by Pippos with a well-defended corner. A. Rymer made confident passes in the midfield and ferociously spotted FC Summit players, as well as Merry making some brilliant passes to C. Rymer.  Willow Duggan substituted Barska and defended a powerful goal kick. Anu Duggin came on the field at 15 minutes and began putting pressure on the opposing team, brilliantly carrying the ball deep into the opposition’s half, and taking a shot at the goal, which hit the post, in the last minute of the first half.
In the second half, FC Summit graciously allowed for an extra Hahndorf player on the field to even out the competition. A strong start to the second half began with a determined attack from the left field. Merru donned the goalkeeper’s jersey, making several confident saves. Stell shadowed the opposing player very deftly and defended competently. Pippos made a brilliant pass to teammate Scout Ramsey, and Barska made a valiant attempt at intercepting the ball from the opposition.
Whilst Hahndorf did a good job at keeping positions, they struggled to move into their forward half and convert attacking manoeuvres into goals. Overall, Hahndorf showed improvement and greater cohesion as a team.

Hahndorf Soccer Club Black vs F.C Summit White

We were met with an unseasonably warm Saturday morning at Anembo Park and the match between Hahndorf U9 black and FC Summit White was going to warm things up a little further. Despite being down a couple of players, the Hahndorf team was bolstered by Amelie and Charlotte Rymer from the Hahndorf U9 white team, who ran on immediately after playing in the previous game.

FC Summit started the game with a fast-moving attack, which put significant pressure on the Hahndorf defence. C Rymer and Charlie Roeszler shared the goalkeeping duties in the first half, with great support from Angus Clifton, Hamish Glynn and A Rymer. The Hahndorf team was determined to keep the FC Summit attackers at bay, and they put on an excellent defence effort that managed to contain many of FC Summit's advances.

On the offensive end, the Hahndorf Attackers Miles Hennessy, Michael Griggs, and Harris Parkyn were consistently moving the ball forward and trying to break through the FC Summit defence. They took a number of great shots; however, their efforts were not enough to earn them a goal during the game. Although the game ended without a goal for Hahndorf, the team can hold their heads high, knowing that they gave it their all and played with heart and effort until the final whistle.

In the end, both teams showed great skill, determination, and sportsmanship. The match was a great experience for the young players, who gained valuable experience and had fun on the field. Congratulations to both teams for a well-played game!

Woodside Warriors Soccer Club Blue vs Woodside Warriors Soccer Club Gold

On home turf again saw Woodside play Woodside. Gold was off to a quick start with a sensational lob over goal keeper Gage's head to score.

The first half was all Gold as they played well accross the midfield, making plays and passing effectively. Blue struggled to break through an attack and appeared dazed by the pressure.

They re grouped at halftime, but another quick goal by Gold early in the secon half showed that they meant business and kept their lead.

Multiple attempts at goal from the Blues, unlucky misses and ending with no score on the board for the first time this season.

A great game played by Gold and better luck next time Blues.

Woodside Warriors Soccer Club Red vs Bridgewater Soccer Club White

The players were treated to a glorious day at Basket Range (a winter treat) for their match against Bridgewater White. Thanks to James Dumuid from Bridgewater who offered to join our team for the match to help balance numbers.

With the pitch playing well, the boys quickly settled into a good structure and controlled the ball in their forward half. After numerous forward thrusts and a few close calls on goal, Edward opened the scoring for the ‘Reds’.

After earlier playing in defence, Gus made the most of two quick chances before half time with some clinical finishing to reward the teams first half effort. There were a few red cheeks as the players came off for a well earned break. Coach Bob encouraged the boys to continue with the same effort and use their skills and ball control.

The Woodside cheer squad were treated to numerous highlights in the second half. Benji controlled the ball off the back line and cut through the midfield with several accurate passes. Fletcher continued to corral the opposition and made numerous runs down the right wing and followed up with controlled passing to the forwards. Eddie continued to play a vital role in midfield and was rarely beaten 1:1 and showed good vision to find a team mate.

After some excellent passing by Bridgewater, it looked as though they would make a breakthrough but they were denied by an excellent save by Oliver - who was pretty thrilled!!

Liam showed excellent positional awareness as a forward and was always lurking at the ‘top of the box’.

Hayden enjoyed the freedom in midfield and made several runs cutting the ball past the opposition and found the back of the net twice.

Goals to Gus, Benji, Fletcher and James in the second half rounded out an excellent half of football and a great team effort.

Woodside Warriors Soccer Club Red vs Bridgewater Soccer Club Blue

The weather really turned it on today - blue skies, sunshine and warmth. Our under 10's did a magnificent job and are currently undefeated so far this season.

It was an exciting game with the Bridgewater Blue team making all our players run hard. Players moved into different positions at times, giving them more experience at playing from a different perspective. Banjo scored his first goal amongst a crazy swarm of Bridgewater defenders protecting their goals. Justin and Bobby were also successful in kicking goals today, using their skills and determination. Zac and Max had some really great goal attempts that just missed out.

Our goalies, Eva (first half) and Zac (second half) did an amazing job saving a lot of goal attempts by Bridgewater. The outcome could have been a lot different if they hadn't kept their on eyes on the ball so well.

Tomke was super excited to be on the pitch, using his speed and big kicks to send the ball flying to the other end of the field. Ryder was working hard on his passes to his team mates, and booting the ball away to defend our goals as needed. Hannah gave it her all, as usual, and took the ball all over the pitch to pass to other players. Archie and Eva spent lots of time running in the mid field supporting both the attackers and defenders by sending the ball up the line. Overall, every player worked really hard and their effort paid off for another win.

Woodside Warriors Soccer Club Red vs Strathalbyn Strikers FC Inc

After a sunny drive to Strath we encountered foggy, gloomy conditions at the ground. This week both teams needed fog lights on the back of thier shirts, and we installed flashing beacons on top of the goals so the players new where they were kicking!!!! We were like ships navigating into the harbour on a cold, foggy and eery morning ;-)

Woodside got off to a strong start putting lots of forward pressure on Strath with some early goals scored. During the game Woodside pushed forward, this allowed a couple of opportunity's for Strath to get a quick break which they capitalised on getting themselves on the score sheet.

Leo scored a couple of sneaky goals from deep into the base line curling the ball past the keeper and into the goals. All part of the plan according to Leo!!

The Team put together another solid performance using each other and passing the ball around. Merrick is gaining in confidence and getting into good position on the pitch. An area for improvement is taking solid shots at goal from a cross to the top of the box. Keep up the great work team.

A big thank you to our fill in players this week, and to Josh for umpiring. Enjoy the week off and have a safe and enjoyable Long weekend.

Stirling Districts Soccer Club Blue (0) vs Murray Bridge United Soccer Club (3)

An amazingly warm and sunny setting in the beautiful Summit Grounds got these two teams fired up and ready to play.

The starting whistle blew and both teams kept themselves evenly matched throughout the first 19 minutes of the game. With a swift shot on goal #5 Mount Barker Gold showed their extreme agility to beat through the defensive line up and gather a tough goal. Both teams then re-set for more intense one on one action. In the 24th minute the next shot on goal occured from Mount Barker but Clancy Kupniewski showed his amazing goal keeping ability to push a tough ball over the top of the goal for an amazing finger tip save.

The second half started with the same match of attack and defence from both sides. But once again #5 proved their strength to smash another ball straight through defence and hit the back of the net. They tried once more to defeat Clancy but his hand was quick and strong and once again he pushed the ball over the top of the goal to ensure that his goal was clear. Not long after #42 took their opportunty with the goal line clear to push the ball through the goal and secure the win for Mount Barker Gold.

Hahndorf Soccer Club (7) vs Strathalbyn Strikers FC Inc Red (3)

Perfect playing conditions greeted players and spectators as Hahndorf Under 13’s took to the pitch against Strathalbyn Red at Rob Kilpatrick Park.

Strathalbyn were quick off the mark, taking early control of the ball. But Hahndorf soon took charge, with excellent defending by their backline players Harry Wood, Caleb Earley and Jack Gaskin. The ball made its way to the Hahndorf forward, with Lawson Shotton having 2 early attempts at goal, which were skilfully deflected by Strathalbyn’s goalie. However, the attack continued, and Shotton managed to sneak one past the goalie to secure Hahndorf’s first. Shortly after, Hahndorf’s Louis Moran found himself with a free kick just out from their goals. While the kick was clean, Strathalbyn’s goalie made a good block to prevent another goal. Cohen Whinfield manoeuvred into position, taking a shot at goal but again was blocked by the skilful Strathalbyn defence. The first half progressed, with Rowan Gilroy showing some fancy footwork in the midfield to delivery opportunities to the forwards. Shotton showed some great skill, finding the back of the net for a second time, followed by R Gilroy, and Harrison Gould. Rounding out the first half, Strathalbyn were able to secure a score after a strong kick from a penalty shot that made the back of the net.

Strong Hahndorf defence continued through the second half.  Skilled goalie Jackson Bidgood was stretched, making numerous saves under pressure. Strathalbyn kept the pressure on, with a running passage of play seeing Strathalbyn being the first of the two teams to make a mark on the scoreboard for the second half. The two teams continue to put pressure on each other, with Hahndorf’s midfield of Emlyn Gilroy and Eli Parkyn managing to push the ball into Hahndorf’s forward line. A surge by Strathalbyn’s midfield saw them secure their third goal of the match, but Hahndorf rallied. A flurry of 3 goals by Hahndorf late in the match was enough for them to secure what was a brilliant match.

Hahndorf Soccer Club (4) vs Woodside Warriors Soccer Club Blue (0)

nother beautiful winter day in the hills welcomed the two teams today.

Hahndorf immediately put Woodside on the defence with Jet Zahara taking a massive kick at the goals, but it went straight over the goals and down the hill.

Then Joash Ng took a great shot at goal but the keeper made a brilliant save.

The game turned around and Hahandorf were on the defence, giving Luciann Tinsley-Smith, Oliver Sarapii-Palombo, and Luca Cannavo a great work out. The ball snuck past them but Harrison Gould managed to save the attempt on goal. This spurred Hahndorf on taking the ball down to goal where Patrick Hinze passed to Levi Beesley who took a shot on goal but  just went past the post.

Daniel Peters took a shot on goal, hit the post but Jet Zahra managed to find the back of the nets. At the end of the first half the kids were very hot and sweaty.

The second half saw Hahndorf again on the attack, but Woodside were not giving up that easily.  Woodside had 3 separate shots on goal but Hinze was in great form, saving all three attempts. Pepe Zahra, Isaac Bonilla-Killey and Jacob Gardner were not going to let the ball get down to the goal area again, blocking the Woodside team. For a while the ball was going back and forth in each half.  Eventually Hayden Lien got the ball and passed to Cooper Liddle who scored his first goal.Again defence were strong, passing to mid field where Gould took the ball and got his first goal for this game. The teams were starting to look tired, hot and sweaty now as the end of the game approached.  Ng, wasn't giving up, taking a huge shot at goal, scoring the final goal of the day. What a great game by both teams.

Woodside Warriors Soccer Club Blue (0) vs Hahndorf Soccer Club (4)

Hahndorf Magpies hosted Woodside Warriors this week in Round 6 of AHJFA 2023. Hahndorf are unbeaten so far this season, whilst Woodside have a win and a draw from their first five efforts. But with Woodside building nicely week-on-week, the visitors were backing themselves to give the locals a run for their money.

The first twenty minutes of the clash had both teams jostling for ascendency as Hahndorf hit three on target, while the Warriors made the keeper save two. And all in attendance could see the outcome going either way. But as the game progressed, Hahndorf started to edge ahead. The severe slope of their home ground was working to their advantage as a tiring Warrior outfit began to slip a yard behind on their press.  This gave the talented Magpies time to create opportunities, and although Woodside scrambled desperately to make up lost ground and keep the ball out, the pressure was mounting. With five to go in the first half, it was relieved, when Hahndorf finally found a way through to score and take a one – nil lead into the break.

A change of ends should have brought welcome relief for Woodside as they now had the slope to help them forward, but a few poor decisions early cost them dearly. From the kick-off, they turned the ball over and then failed to successfully clear their area as they repeatedly gifted easy ball to the Maggies right in the middle of the pitch. In a flash, Hahndorf had kicked two additional goals to put them 3 goals up - an unassailable position given the tightness of the contest. This seemed to panic the visitors, who until now had played a lovely, controlled passing game. And with the panic came more poor decision making. Woodside were now routinely directing ball through their own danger zone, something they have not previously done through five rounds of competitive football. This put them under constant duress. Fortunately, their poor decision making was matched by their willingness to fight. And for half an hour they worked for each other to withstand a veritable bombardment from the home side. A late goal for Hahndorf took the scorecard to four – zip in the dying minutes.

Another strong win for the black and white, while Woodside will learn and come back stronger than ever!

Hahndorf Soccer Club (1) vs Strathalbyn Strikers FC Inc (5)

Hahndorf’s under 17 team faced Strathalbyn at Rob Kilpatrick Park on Saturday afternoon. Strathalbyn were a few players short of fielding a full team but Hahndorf generously provided some younger players to supplement their numbers. The game got off to a late start but was played in perfect sunny conditions. Strathalbyn took the lead with the first goal scored about ten minutes into the game but Hahndorf drew level with Mitchell Stribley kicking a fantastic goal a few minutes later. Oscar Johnson came very close to scoring with successive shots on goal and then Strathalbyn took the lead with an impressive strike on goal. Subsequently, Toby Thomas just missed out on scoring a goal for Hahndorf, as did Zara Tinsley-Smith with a great effort from a free kick. Strathalbyn scored a nice goal just before half time with some accurate passing breaching the Hahndorf defence.

Strathalbyn scored a fourth goal a couple of minutes into the second half. Soon after, Stefan Panic and Stribley combined to almost score a goal for Hahndorf, as did Johnson and Rhys Davies. The game was briefly interrupted for a drinks’ break which was very unexpected for the first week of Winter. Following this Davies and Thomas each attempted to score goals and then Strathalbyn scored their fifth and final goal with about ten minutes left in the game. So the final score was 5-1 in Strathalbyn’s favour but Hahndorf showed some real signs of progress and improvement. The score would have been very different without some sterling work from Hanhdorf’s defence, in particular goal keeper Thomas Boekel who saved many goals. Hahndorf will certainly be helped with the return of George Papakostas (midfielder and chief corner taker) in the next game.

U17G

Stirling Districts Soccer Club (2) vs Woodside Warriors Soccer Club Rams (2)

Round 6 saw the Girls’ Competition travel to Birdwood Park for one of only two rounds this season with Stirling Districts taking on a combined Woodside Rams (Woodside Warriors and Torrens Valley Rams) team on a spectacular, warm, sunshine filled afternoon.

Kick off was delayed, as were those of the previous three games, and Stirling were still in warm up mode until Rosalie Taylor scored the first goal of the match in the 13th minute. Woodside Rams retaliated only a minute later, and an intense battle ensued. A further goal was conceded at the 18th minute mark by a certain Birthday Girl. Izzy Bailes was consistently strong in defense with some impressive threw kicks to help change up the game. Layla Preece worked closely with her teammates and made several attempts on goals which were all sadly thwarted. Auriana Healy continued to make her mark as an attacking wing, showing speed and agility in hot contests with the opposition and this style of play continued from all throughout the game. Zora Huang was strong and determined in midfield. Although she’d intended to play, Zoe York smoothly switched from player to assistant coach in a true show of leadership and maturity, offering game insight and advice to her teammates throughout warm up and game.

The second half brought a newly invigorated Stirling team to the pitch – must be those mandarins and lolly snakes! Although reluctant to take to the pitch as keeper, Polly Harrison and her spiderman hands were a force to be reckoned with – so much so she made need to become more accustomed to wearing the gloves. Speaking of crackers, Hannah Noonan was on fire! She lit up the defensive midfield and her team’s spirits. Feiya Huang switched up in the second half and showed some passionate play with some strong contests on the ball. From goals in the first half to attacking wing play in the second, Jasmijn Weits showed great tenacity and speed and is such a fun newcomer to watch on pitch. Jae Fitch continues to delight in defense, toying with attackers before winning the battle and some strong forward kicks off the boot to help switch play. She plays especially well with Noa Ransom who has a never say die attitude coupled with fancy footwork on the front line when required. Finally, subbing back on in the last five minutes, Jessie Verryt was jokingly challenged to score at least one, if not two goals, and in the 77th minute she delivered the equaliser!

At the final whistle and in the dying sunlight, the teams drew. They walked onto the pitch, cheered one another and then all joined in singing ‘Happy Birthday’ to one of their opponents. This is what football in the Hills is all about – fun, friendship, and a love of the game!

Woodside Warriors Soccer Club Rams (2) vs Stirling Districts Soccer Club (2)

Round 6                        Stirling Vs Woodside Rams                    Birdwood Park

It was the beginning of winter, but it did not feel like it with the sun shineing and the air was warm.

We showed up ready for what was anticipated as one of our toughest matches for the season with our last match against Stirling finishing up with a defeat, all players rocked up early and were warming up with intent knowing we were going to need to be ready. Then a spanner hit us and the game before us was running about 50 minutes late so the girls calmed down took a seat and began cheering for the current game. At 3:00 pm. We began warming up again and gave it our all some running some passing some contested play and some goalie work.

The staring whistle blew with only 2 on the bench this time around. It was looking like we were here to play and press and press we were doing. We had a couple of players not in their usual position and so feeling a little un easy about the situation, but even though they were out of their comfort zone still they gave as much as they could to drive that ball forward to create opportunities.

First quarter was over and still scores were level, our first bench change made and a little confusion as changes were made and oh no Stirling was in our goal box a shot was taken and in it went. We were on the back foot again, but not for long birthday girl pushed up hard off the attack, drew all of the defenders she then passed it back which set up our mid field for a clean chance to run in and score. Level again game on.

Well the Woodside rams were fired up again and it was looking like Stirling were on the back foot again, or maybe not a flip in play direction get back defenders yells the coach it is up to the goalie and from next to no distance from the keeper the Stirling attacker takes the shot and Woodside Rams goalie gets a hand to it then dives on it what a save .

We did not like this kind of pressure and birthday girl took to it again this time it was her turn to put one through. Finally we were in front and halftime was only just around the corner.

Half time break lollies left the building like Dorothy in a tornado I managed to get the last couple by the skin of my teeth. Now the girls were revved up and wanting a win, it was not going to be easy though. Stirling put their attacker into defence and she meant they had a bit more pace than we had and getting through seemed impossible . a cross bar hit a shot over the top a couple just to the side, but nothing going in then a crack into the goalies hands and they are on the line a pause the ref thinks about it and no goal so closenearly got one. Now Stirling weren’t happy about it and into our defencive half they went and we just could not get it out of their. How much time is left we ask, but still a couple of minutes come on clock just get there. Oh no Stirling scored again we are now level. Can we do a quick score back again. No there isn’t enough time only 1 minute more and we would have won but we are still super happy with a tie next time we will get them.
