Hahndorf Soccer Club vs Woodside Warriors Soccer Club Red

The last u8s game of the season saw Hahndorf take on Woodside Red at Woodside oval .

A great start to the game with some fast running, and moving the ball through the middle from Hahndorf. The Woodside defence stood strong, but Hahndorf persisted which resulted in Soren Mickan kicking an awesome first half goal. He was supported by great defence from Indie Dunning, Ali Semple and Rosie Semple - all putting in great efforts in the defensive half.  Levi Neumann was kept on his toes as Hahndorf's Goalkeeper for the first half and had some fantastic, skillful saves.

The Second half saw Violet Mitchell put a top effort in as goalie with some great saves. Joshua Blain was consistent and strong with his defence throughout the whole game and Owen Hoyle displayed some nifty footwork. Carter Hartley showed strong determination through the midfield. Neumann used the ball well, using his speed to drive the ball into Hahndorf's attacking half. It was an evenly matched game between the two teams but Hahndorf managed to find the back of the net one more time with a strike from Mickan.

Hahndorf showed great determination throughout the game displaying enthusiasm and drive.  A great way to finish the season!

Hahndorf Soccer Club Black vs Stirling United Soccer Club

The final game of the season was played out at oval against Stirling United White. While wet under foot leaving strips muddy for the team manager to wash, the game was full of excitement and those long awaited first goals for a couple of players! Stirling got out of the gates quickly with an early attempt on goal saved by strategically positioned goalie Lucca Falvo-Lopez. Good passing between the Hahndorf boys saw the ball spend the rest of the first half up their end with Hugo Curtis making the first attempt on goal letting the Stirling players know they were here to play for keeps. Jhett Frost soon followed up finding the back of the net putting Hahndorf in the lead. Resetting back to the middle the Hahndorf boys were off again with the next two goals being scored by Curtis with exceptional team work and passing by team mates Caleb Earley, Lachlan Gardiner and Connor Castle (out of goals and on the move today). In the true spirit of teamwork it was now time for Rowan Gilroy, usually a powerful defender, to add one to his tally just before the half time siren.

The second half began with a quick break by Stirling resulting in a goal but this only served to fire up the Hahndorf boys and that was the last Falvo-Lopez saw of the ball. Spurred on by his fathers bribery ($50 for a goal), Zack Perkins slotted the next couple in to the net as the team continued to show coach Eddie Hardingham everything they had learnt this year. Another Frost goal followed and after several attempts going wide, Gardiner finally got one home. But the absolute winner for today had to be Gilroy’s final goal from almost half way. Lifting the ball over everyone’s heads, the crowd watched it sail through the air, over the goalies head and just under the top bar. A great game to finish the season with an exceptional win 9-1.

Well done to everyone on a great season!

Hahndorf Soccer Club White vs Bridgewater Soccer Club

On a cold but clear morning, the Hahndorf under 9 white players fronted up to Bridgewater Oval for the last game of the round against Bridgewater.  The kids spirits were high and the parents were just happy it wasn't hailing, following last nights storm in the hills.

Both teams started off strong, moving the ball around in both halves, but neither team were able to convert any attempts at goal into scoring with Connor Ozolins taking on the first stint at Goalie and protecting the Hahndorf end.  It was a wet and slippery affair on the boggy Bridgewater oval and players were going down left and right as wet conditions caused players to lose their footing.  Simran Singh stepped into the path of the ball for a great save for Hahndorf, albeit taking a hard hit to the stomach and needing a short injury sub.  Benjamin Kowald had a heavy clash with a Bridgewater defender but was back on his feet before relieving Ozolins in goals.

Josh Pettitt and Cohen Whinfield had opportunities to score in the first half but were unsuccessful, until finally, in the dying minutes of the first half, Thomas Gould was able to convert for the first score of the game, bringing us into half time at one nil.

The second half started with a considerably muddier Hahndorf side as the Hahndorf Coach Zac encouraged the kids to slide in the mud for a bit of half time fun.  Ozolins hit the ground running right off the whistle, and worked the ball down half the field around the opposition at speed to score the second goal for Hahndorf within seconds of the second half starting.

This opened the floodgates for Hahndorf and they went on a scoring spree with Pettitt, and Gould combining for a further 4 more goals in the second half.

Archie Greene, Winfield and Jamie Timmins all worked hard through the offensive half, moving the ball towards goal but were unable to add to the already high Hahndorf score. Bridgewater persisted though and was able to sneak one past Goalie Kowald’s fingers half way through the second half.

Great team work by the Hahndorf boys to bring home the win… and lots of mud!!

A very big thank you to Coach Zac for the encouragement and coaching of the players this season in good and bad weather.  A special thanks to the Team Manager, Tammy for your efforts throughout the season that kept everyone organized and your military precision subbing system.  And of course a big thanks to all the parents for getting the players to the games each week and cheering the kids on.

Woodside Warriors Soccer Club Red vs Woodside Warriors Soccer Club Blue

What an awesome way to end the season with a showdown between Woodside blue and red. It seemed to be an evenly matched game even with the red team borrowing a blue player. Thanks to Theo for volunteering. We sent the kids out to have a really fun game today and they certainly did. Each team managed to kick some goals with a couple of players kicking thier first goal ever. Every player worked hard and showed us how much they have grown over the season which was fantastic to see. Well done to both teams.

U10

Hahndorf Soccer Club White vs Woodside Warriors Soccer Club Red

The rain held off and the sun came out for the last round of the season, where Hahndorf Under 10 White met Woodside Red at Pine Avenue.

Lawson Shotton, Billy Cook and Harry Wood started the match in the forward.  Jensen Ingram, Daniel Peters and Eddie Bjordal took up position in the back half, whilst Thomas Stapleton guarded the goals.  Woodside started strong, having several attempts at goal, but Stapleton was able to block these attempts and maintained the 0-0 score line.  Ingram performed a number of critical intercepts in the backline to push the ball into Hahndorf’s forward line.  Lawson had a number of shots at goal, but the ball was unable to find the back of the net.

A rotation with the bench saw Joel Bateman take up position in the forward.  He immediately made an impact with some excellent running with the ball through the Woodside defence to convert a shot at goal.

In the second half, Peters moved into the goals, and despite numerous attempts at goal by a strong Woodside team, he ably defended each attempt.  Woodside continued to keep the pressure on, but the defence of Cook, Lawson, and Wood held strong.  Wood was able to push the ball forward and had an attempt at goal, but unfortunately was unable to get it past the Woodside goalie.

In the forward, Bjordal was brilliant in his intercepts and quick footwork.  Will Tully and Bjordal had some excellent passing play, with Tully later making a precision pass to Stapleton who then scored the second goal of the match.

The match was arguably one of the tightest fought contests for Hahndorf Under 10 White this season and was a fantastic show of skill by both teams.  Well done to coach Stephen Shotton and the under 10’s team for a strong finish to the 2020 season.

U12

Woodside Warriors Soccer Club Red (5) vs Mount Barker United Soccer Club Blue (0)

Woodside Warriors Under 12 Red travelled again to Murray Bridge United for the second week in a row this time facing Murray Bridge Blue. A win would guarantee the Warriors fourth place and the team was busting to get onto the pitch and close out a very good first year in the Under 12 league.

Play for was very even for the first 10 minutes with both sides showing good intent when going forward. Jordan Virgara, Nate Dealtry, Deagen Arnold and Finn Randell held the defensive line for the Warriors and had their hands full as United Blue pressed the ball positively deep into the danger zone.

The Warriors held their nerve and absorbed the pressure and started to change the narrative by working the ball up the left wings through Nikos Asalanidis and Finn Cradock. Josh Constable started to impose himself on the game and the United Blue keeper was called into action numerous times. At the other end Axel Vassos patrolled the Warriors goal line and skillfully mopped up and loose balls that dangerously bopped around his goal line. Elliot Klein, Jamie Spooner and Rojo Nambiar linked up in midfield and controlled most of the balls in dispute to negate United Blues counter attacks. Eventually, the Warrior’s broke the deadlock and Craddock expertly pushed the ball through two defenders to rack up a well deserved first goal. The Warriors went into half time with their noses just in front with a slim 1-0 lead. The Warrior’s coach noticed that some of his defenders were starting to tire as they had endured a very intense first half and this saw the introduction of Gracie Lloyd into attack. Craddock dropped back into left back which allowed Spooner to maintain pressure on United’s defenders. The fantastic link up play started to accelerate the Warrior’s hunger to capitalise on the numerous scoring opportunities that the Warriors midfielder engine constantly created. In the blink of the eye Klein had scored 2 goals and Constable who had worked tirelessly all morning also bagged 2 goals. The Warriors assumed total control of the game and again we witnessed another well balanced contribution from all 1 Warrior’s players on the pitch. Arnold finished the season with some great defensive form from right back and Vassos’s goal keeping was outstanding and was complemented with a clean sheet for his hard work. Virgara held the Centre Back role expertly and this allowed Nambiar, Asalanidis, Klein and Spooner to wreak havoc throughout the midfield. Full time score Warriors 5, Murray Bridge 0.

Woodside Warriors Soccer Club Gold (0) vs Mount Barker United Soccer Club Red (5)

For the final round of the season Mount Barker Red hosted Woodside Warriors Gold.

When the ref started proceedings both teams jumped out of the blocks with mischief and intent in their minds. This was it for the season and both teams carried an air of “be damned if we’re not gonna leave it all out here today!” From the outset Mt Barker looked the stronger side. Their passing game and willingness to share possession was worthy of admiration. But if Woodside Gold has shown anything this season, it’s a willingness to play for their mates – to defend their nest and commit everything to the battle. And so an epic battle ensued. Mt Barker striving to goal. Woodside fighting tooth and nail to repel. Every time Mt Barker looked a certainty to score, a Red and Blue shirt would materialize in the nick of time to save the day. But eventually a desperate clearance found the goal line instead of the side-line and Mt Barker lined up for a well-rehearsed corner. The ball was struck brilliantly but the Woodside Goalie stepped forward to defuse the bomb. As he did so, the ball bobbled loose. He plunged for it. His hand was pined under an opposition boot. And the bobbling ball was driven home. One – nil Mt Barker. On the back of this goal, Woodside rose to the challenge, striving forward to terrify the Mt Barker defense. But every time they threatened the onion bag, Mt Barker’s goal keeper was up for the challenge and kept his sheet clean. As the half wore on Mt Barker continued to create half chances. Eventually, a half chance from the left wing was converted to a full goal by an immaculately timed strike that stretched the back of the net and took the home side to two  - nil.

The second half played out much as the first. Mt Barker attacked for extended periods. Woodside fought with the courage of Saracens defending their homeland. On multiple occasions Woodside threatened to score on the counter. But Mt Barker were the stronger side in this contest. Their constant press, their willingness to share possession and their powerful striking showed that they are a force in the making. And with three unanswered goals in the second half they took the match in commanding fashion. Full credit to both sides on a match and a season well played. To play the game well is impressive. To play well with integrity is admirable. Mt Barker Red and Woodside Warriors Gold were equally rewarded with admiration this week. And as the curtain closes on the 2020 AHJSA season we wish all players a safe off-season and look forward to 2021!

Woodside Warriors Soccer Club Blue (5) vs Rangers Junior Soccer Club (2)

Warriors travelled to Ashton to play against Rangers for the final game of the U12 2020 season. Warriors knew it was an important game to win to finish the season undefeated and claim number 1 spot of the ladder. They also knew it was going to be a tough game to win. As the first whistle blew both teams went in with determination. Warriors claimed possession of the ball quickly and managed to get first shot at goal but unfortunately it went high. Rangers were there to play, and every time Warriors got possession of the ball, they were all over them. Warriors players Mack Olsson, Will Limbert and Max Davis were working hard in the middle to hold the ball in Warriors forward. Rangers managed to slip through and with their first shot at goal managed to score putting them on the scoreboard first. Warriors continued to push forward and had a few attempts at goal but narrowly missing the mark. Warriors defence players Morgan Burroughes and Oliver Boerth worked tirelessly and attacked the ball to turn control back over and get it to the Warriors strikers. Both teams seemed evenly matched and as determined as each other to be victors of this match. Warriors continued to fight for the ball and it eventually paid off when Domenico Silvestri managed to score Warriors first goal only 3 minutes before the half time whistle leaving it all tied up with 1 goal each at half time break. After a quick drink, some sweets and a chat from the coaches, Warriors were ready to get out there and claim the number 1 spot. Warriors Eddie Moylan and James Lunnon were quick to cover Rangers players and with their speed managed to keep putting the ball back into Warriors control. Ryan Sutton used his skill to move the ball down the wing and pass of to team mate Sidney Cotton who then scored the first goal in the second half and put Warriors in front. Rangers weren’t ready to give up though and after a couple attempts at goal that were expertly stopped by Warriors goalie Barnaby Bevan, Rangers managed to slip one through leaving scores tied up again. Warriors then realised time was running out and that’s when they came alive. Poppy Thomas was quick on her feet and every single time her passes hit their mark. Silvestri had a penalty shot at goal and sank it into the net with ease and that’s when the crowd on the sideline went nuts. When Warriors Jesse Mewett  had the ball in his sights he continued to tackle until he won the ball and was able to pass it off and as the ball got close to goal and player of the day, Sidney Cotton came out of nowhere and got his head to ball and scored warriors 4th goal. By this time the whole of the Warriors crowd were on their feet cheering them on and as time was ticking on Warriors took advantage of having control of the ball and Silvestri kicked a goal just seconds before the final whistle. Warriors players and supporters erupted and celebrated the win. Warriors were victors and kept their status as undefeated for the 2020 season with final score being Warriors 5 Rangers 2. Must give credit to Rangers though for a well-played match.

Hahndorf Soccer Club White (5) vs Stirling Districts Soccer Club Blue (2)

It was a chilly morning, the game started late and the sun came out on the starting whistle. Hahndorf was captained by goalkeeper Ryder Hill. Oliver Dahmke took the first throw in showing great form and determined Hayden Lien scored the first goal within the opening minute. Play moved quickly and Zoe York took the second throw in for Hahndorf. Facing some pressure in defence ever-tenacious Oliver Aylen cleared the ball wide. The first corner of the match was awarded to Stirling Districts and was skilfully defended. Jasper Jones showed impressive strength and skill against two Stirling Districts’ attackers. Reliable and focused Dante Man cleared a goal attempt. First substitutions saw Patrick Hinze take to the pitch and work well with Man despite the left-footer being on the right of the pitch. Twelve minutes in and the weather turned dark and grey. There was a great save Hill before Hahndorf pushed back into attack and were awarded a corner. Stirling Districts fought back and looked to score, however, it was not to be as Hill took a spectacular tumble save which also saw the opposition player hit the pitch. Commanding Harrison Gould took a corner and a few plays later, Jacob Gardner scored a goal. Great strategic play from under-utilised York, reading the game well to play smarter rather than harder. A mere 2 minutes before the end of the half a goal was conceded.

The second half saw another goal to Stirling Districts and a demoralised Hahndorf. Gould made a good attempt and Emlyn Gilroy’s scrapped the outside post. Harry Mumford was a great team communicator in defence and worked hard clearing the ball. Levi Beesley worked very hard, creating opportunities for himself and his team mates. With only 10 minutes to go, Hahndorf made a renewed effort with three goals in rapid succession from Gould, Gardner and Gilroy. Honourable mentions this week also to Dahmke and Jones, some great soccer lads! It was unfortunate that Reilly Bowden was unavailable for the match.

At the final whistle, the scores were Hahndorf 5 to Stirling Districts 2. Hahndorf Under 12 White wish to thank Stirling Districts Soccer Club Under 12 Blue for the game played Saturday 26 September 2020.

Hahndorf Soccer Club Black (7*) vs Strathalbyn Strikers FC Inc (1)

Under a clear sky the match got off to an even start, with both teams taking control of the ball in turn to see it reach both goal ends in the opening minutes of the game. Good passing from Luca Cannavo to Cooper Liddle and onto Jacob Neumann saw the first goal scored early for Hahndorf. The strong teamwork continued with Cannavo, Joash Ng, Toby Perkins and Liddle all working well together to get the ball back to Hahndrof's goal end for the second goal for J. Neumann. Cannavo was strong in his midfield attack and well supported by Jet Zahra and Sam Jansink. The ball remained around the Hahndorf goal with Ryleys Neumann and J. Neumann both skilfull in keeping control for Hahndorf. Liddle displayed strong running, coupled with the good defence fielded from Ng and J. Zahra saw the third goal opportunity converted by J. Neumann. Shortly thereafter Strathalbyn scored an answering goal. The half rounded out with good saves from goalie Angus Mifsud and some long defensive kicks from Ng for Hahndorf.

The second half began with a Hahndorf goal to Pepe Zahra, quickly followed by more cohesive teamwork between Perkins, P. Zahra and J. Zahra. This was followed up by Zack Schwarz and Blane Balcom with long kicks to return the ball down the field to the Hahndorf goal. Balcom passing to Schwarz who converted for a further goal. Liddle continued his excellent attacking game, with J. Zahra on the ball throughout. Cannavo remained a strong player, kicking to clear the ball. The group of Cannavo, Liam Sickerdick and Mifsud were indominatable in defence. The Strathalbyn goalie had some good saves with a few near goals from Hahndorf prevented. Henri Bjordal had an impressive stop of the ball, creating an opportunity for J. Neumann to make a run for a successful goal. Liddle kept up his blazing running, returning the ball for a further score for Hahndorf. Bjordal kept up his work in defence, making it difficult for Strathalbyn to break through. J. Neumann kicked in from the corner and this was quickly converted to goal by Ng.

We would like to thank Strathalbyn for a great game and the umpire for an excellent match to end the season.

Woodside Warriors Soccer Club Blue (5) vs Torrens Valley Soccer Club (1)

Again Torrens Valley put on spectacular weather for the final game of the season and both teams’ spectators were in fine voice for what was an exciting game between two very defensive teams that play good attacking soccer.

The first five minutes saw both teams move the ball up the field in attempts to score that elusive first goal putting both teams defensive units to the test. Woodside though started to make their passes count and with well-placed passes were starting to get behind the Ram’s defence. Finally a Warrior’s striker broke free and opened the scoring for the day. This lifted their opponents who increased their intensity and after good passing had their striker one on one with the keeper and made no mistake. Torrens Valley continued to apply pressure to the Woodside team with great crosses from out wide but were unable to find team mates in the middle waiting and Woodside’s defence were easily able to mop them up and send the ball forward. Woodside made some changes half way through the first half and their intensity lifted, passing was becoming crisper and players working for each other, but the Rams held them out. With 10 minutes left in the half the game was still anybody’s, when a Warriors midfield was given too much room outside the box and managed to chip the keeper to take the lead. Torrens Valley lifted again and Woodside’s players stepped up their defence.  When a free kick was awarded just outside the Warrior’s box Torrens Valley looked dangerous. A well taken free kick, had the Warrior’s keeper on his toes but he managed to get his hand to the ball, as it headed towards the top corner, and flick it over. Woodside dug deep for the remaining time in the half and managed their third just before the break. Woodside 3 Torrens Valley 1.

Woodside knew that their opponents would again lift and for the first 20 minutes of the second half both teams tackled, passed and tried to make opportunities. Both team’s defence remained strong closing down their opponents and denying strikers the chance to have a shot on goal. In midfield it was becoming physical as players gave their all to get the ball and deny their opponents the opportunity to move the ball forward. As time was running out the Rams gave their all, but Woodside’s season had been based on using the ball and moving it on quickly. With fifteen minutes left in the game, the ball was quickly moved to the left wing where a waiting Woodside player had some time on the ball and scored their fourth. As the game was drawing to its conclusion Torrens Valley tried valiantly down both flanks to get one more goal for the season, but the Woodside defence remained strong and turned back their efforts. With five minutes left in the game Woodside’s leading goal scorer got his 20 goal for the season and capped of a great game and season for the Woodside Warriors. Congratulations to Torrens Valley who competed all day and we look forward to another tough battle in 2021. Final score was Woodside 5 Torrens Valley 1.

The Woodside Warriors Blue team would like to thank all their opponents this year, while a shortened season, it was great to have a competition and compete against all teams. We look forward to the 2021 season when we compete again against you all. Congratulations to all teams.

U16

Woodside Warriors Soccer Club (1) vs Strathalbyn Strikers FC Inc White (0)

"A fitting conclusion."

It's been an interesting season for the Woodside Warriors U16 team. In the first half of the season it was very much hit or miss, mostly misses unfortunately. Losses against Stirling United (0-3), Murray Bridge (0-3) and Hahndorf (1-7) hampered their ladder efforts, whilst the occasional win kept them seeking more.

Those conditions lead to a strong second half of the season with five wins over six games, which included a 3-1 win over the ultimate season champion. The only loss was against Stirling United, a single goal the difference (0-1).

The 14th and final round of the season saw Woodside Warriors continue their healthy rivalry against Strathalbyn Strikers. In the 7th round the two faced off at Woodside, with the Warriors taking three points with a very light and competitive victory (3-2).

This time around the game was held at the Polo Grounds at Strathalbyn. The grounds have always been a little ragged, particularly noticeable at the start of the season when other pitches are in their prime. But the wintry weather eventually kicks in and the grounds become desirable. For example Stirling Districts chose to host all of their games at Strathalbyn instead of Bradwood. Strathalbyn, to their credit and with a vast amount of space on hand, was more than happy to oblige.

The U16 game was the first of the day and kicked off at 9am.

Control of the play was very much in Woodside's favour, for the first 25 minutes of the game at least. It wouldn't matter if they couldn't score though. It eventually came via Woodside's BILLY WILSON. Billy was unlucky not to claim multiple goals in that amount of time.

Strathalbyn, spurred on by being a goal down, found their form and reversed control for the last 15 minutes of the first half. Some quality saves from Woodside's keeper, SAM HERMAN, spelt trouble for the home team.

Both teams entered the break, Woodside 1-0 Strathalbyn.

The second half saw both teams deliver some impressive attacks, whilst maintaining some strong defensive lines. Strathalbyn's KALAN BROOKS was as dangerous as can be. Ultimately the sides were balanced, making for some edge-of-seat viewing but with no substance in the form of goals.

The game concluded 0-1 in favour of Woodside.

"It was a fitting conclusion for the season", said Woodside Coach BRUCE TONKIN. "It's also what this season should have been all about. A loss by a goal here. A win by a goal there. Four, five, six plus goal differences isn't exciting for anyone that plays or watches football for the right reasons. We're looking forward to continuing this rivalry with Strathalbyn in the next season."

SAM HERMAN literally saved the game, taking home the nomination for Best & Fairest. BILLY WILSON deserves credit for a strong performance, and JAMES RENSHAW filled in for an absent AIDEN SUTTON in centre-back.

The two teams, Woodside and Strathalbyn, finished the AHJSA 2020 U16 season 4th and 5th.

Stirling United Soccer Club (2) vs Murray Bridge United Soccer Club (5)

On the last weekend in September, Stirling United and Murray Bridge were vying for second place in the U16 league, with Hahndorf already assured of top place. The previous match between the teams was a tight affair, with Stirling the victors in a 1-0 scoreline that had supporters of both teams on edge throughout the match.

With a later than usual 5.00pm start, it was going to be interesting to see whether the teams were switched on, but both teams started with great intensity that was to continue for the rest of the match.

Stirling appeared to have an initial slight edge, but a long ball allowed Murray Bridge’s talented forward Edward Mato to run on and score the opener. Their lead was short lived, with a great assist from Ky Henry, providing an opportunity for Araby Phelan to open the scoring for the visitors.

The remainder of the half was tight, but Stirling clearly had more opportunities and looked the most likely to break the deadlock.

After the break, the control of play for Stirling continued, and with first Nik Smith and then Matthew Silcock hitting the cross bar, it seemed only a matter of time before they would take the lead.

Against the run of play, Stirling were again caught out on the fast break, and Mato’s second resulted. Not long after a contentious handball decision went against Stirling, and with Jayden Vokes calmly slotting the resultant penalty, it appeared the match may be over.

However once again, Stirling were able to almost immediately counter, with a stunning cross from Kye McDonald falling for Emily Bouchereau to give Stirling hope of a dramatic comeback. Shortly after Yuto Okada made a powerful run into the box, but his shot that would have drawn Stirling level cleared the crossbar.

With only minutes remaining, a freekick for Murray Bridge deflected off the wall into the goal, and with Stirling throwing players forward in an attempt to score, a final goal for Murray Bridge saw them finish the game comfortable winners 5-2 in a tightly fought contest between two strong sides.

All in all a great exhibition of football for the final game of the season, with players from both teams now looking forward to 2021.

Hahndorf Soccer Club (4) vs Strathalbyn Strikers FC Inc Red (0)

Hahndorf scored a goal in the first minutes of the game with a kick by Jade Czukli which bounced off the Strath goalie to go into the goals. Further attempts on goals were made by Gracie Curtis and Jade Cuzulki. A great save was made by the Strath Goalie on a corner attempt. Another attempt on goal towards the end of the first half was made by Isabella Cuzulki with Hahndorf leading at the Break 1 - 0 .

Hahndorf came out strong in the Second half with a quick goal in the first minutes by Eloise Cutting. Further attempts at goal were made by Eloise, Morenike Kelly, and Gracie Curtis with Curtis hitting the pole. Less than a minute later Curtis scored a goal. Morenike Kelly set up a ball for Ruby Tully to Score the 4th goal for the game. Charlotte Fairley made an attempt at goal in the dying minutes. Hahndorf was too strong for strath with the final score being 4 - 0

Strathalbyn Strikers FC Inc White (6*) vs Stirling Districts Soccer Club (0)

Everyone could feel the importance and tension of the final game of the season, This was Strath White and Stirlings last opportunity to climb the ladder. The game started with a bang, only 2 minutes into the game, Bonnie Clothier stole the ball and took it through the Stirling defence, scoring the first goal for Strath White. Stirling tried to even it out and attacked fiercely. They took a shot at goal, but Matilda Mundy (Strath’s awesome goalkeeper) saved it. With help from Savannah, who was playing strongly on the wing, Bonnie took possession of the ball again and shot an impressive goal. She tried to assist Leah Davis and help her score one as well, but Leah’s shot fell short. Savannah made up for it by scoring a beautiful goal, That makes two goals in two weeks, Nice work Savannah!. The defence line was tested as Stirling pushed through, with Hannah and Katie playing great games in defence. Stirling took a shot at goal and also had a corner kick, but without result.  Strath took up the attacking game again, with Layla Frahn trying to score but missing. Brooklyn Rigney executed a long cross to Bonnie, setting up the perfect opportunity for her to slot her third goal of the game. Great team work between the girls. The action mostly stayed up in Stirling’s end, with Strath attacking with determination. Brooklyn and Layla both tried to score, but Stirling was strong and wasn’t giving up, and didn’t let the ball through their defence. The halftime whistle sounded with Strath in the lead. Stirling would have to play their very best to catch up.

The second half of the game didn’t see Strathalbyn letting their guard down at all. Katie Wilson took a shot at goal early in, followed shortly by Gemma (both missed). Stirling didn’t get a chance to attack as Strathalbyn worked their hardest against the defenders. Katie and Gemma both played excellent games. Strath certainly put the pressure on Stirling, but Stirling kept fighting. They attacked the Strathalbyn goals with vigour, putting pressure on Matilda and testing the defence line. Hannah didn’t let them past and defended with speed and power. Gemma turned the tables in her team’s favour and scored an impressive goal by running it up the wing. Strathalbyn fought hard and took many shots at goal. None of them got past the goalkeeper, until Katie stepped up and scoring her first goal of the game! Stirling attempted to steal the ball back, but Hannah intercepted them, preserving Strath’s lead. The ball was taken back up to Stirling’s side, and Layla kicked an impressive goal from the edge of the pitch. Only a minute after, she scores again! The girl is a powerhouse. With only a few minutes left in the game, Strathalbyn was confident that they would secure the win. They earned a corner (taken by Bonnie Clothier) but nothing was achieved. Stirling was set to launch another attack, but the whistle blew, signalling the end of the game and sadly the season. It was an exciting final game to watch. Strath White are a strong team and have bonded as a group. They will be hard to beat next season.
