Match report

After a couple of weeks in football hiatus the Warriors were eager and prepared to face the highly fancied Stirling at Bradwood Park.

Still stuck in the thought of their last chai latte in a leafy cafe on the Stirling main drag, Stirling started surprisingly lethargic and disjointed.

The warriors maintained possession, held to their positions and peppered the goals from difficult angles.

Finally after about 15 mins Stirling woke up and attacked the goals themselves. The defence remained resolute with Ava directing her defence, Mitchell not giving any room and the anchor Hamish stopping anything that came his way.

Ashton, Tye and Jackson were on song as usual and created some tantalising through balls and crosses for the likes of James, Abbie and Lillian. If not for the Stirling keeper multiple goals would have graced the back of the net.

The rest of the first half remained a back and forth tustle with neither side giving room. The last 20 seconds of the first half ended in disaster when Stirling found some space and scored right on the half time whistle.

The second half sounded and the warriors began with some pepp in their step. They dominated in possession and shots on goal. Save after save the Stirling keeper held strong. Not to be outdone Dean made several important saves himself, summoning his inner David Seamon as he dived and darted left and right to deny Stirling time and time again.

The end whistle blew with The warriors having dominated in all the areas besides the one that matters most with a final score of 0-1.

With a full and fit side we proved today that we are capable of matching it with the best teams. It’s a great confidence boost as we head into the cup rounds.

Until the next game.
