Woodside Warriors Red Vs FC Summit

Woodside Recreation Ground – Modified Pitch – 10:00am

After lying in bed all night listening to the rain, We wondered what state the pitch would be in. We arrived to find the pitch in heavy but fair condition, but the rain continued to fall and it turned into just what we expected: mud, mud, mud. This did not dampen the lads' usual enthusiasm for getting the game started, this week the were all keen to get running and warm up.

As the game began, it was evident that we were up against a powerful opponent who was well-positioned all across the field. Both teams got off to a fast start. Jesse was looking dangerous for us up front, finding the ball and creating chances. Scott found himself on the end of a loose ball after some intense pressure and didn't waste the opportunity, smashing home our first goal of the game.

This week had both goalies on their toes. With the opponents launching some tremendous shots. Archer and Nathaniel both did an excellent job of holding off some good chances and strongly leaping on the ball when it got into their area.

FC Summit had a terrific run on in the second half, with attacking play after attacking play. Our defence was rock solid, with Daniel and Eddie holding strong and shutting down a fast attacking squad. Both Freddie and Luca were setting themselves effectively up front and working hard into the midfield, providing us with some wonderful offensive opportunities with quick breakaways. Mitchell and Archer were both able to make spectacular breakaway plays and finish with goals.

The boys performed brilliantly this week against what was arguably our most difficult opponent of the season. Fighting hard in challenging conditions. It was amazing to watch our team's team play, which has become a true strength, being used and operating in a game where the opposition was up for the battle.
