Match report

It was a challenging day for football in the hills, with strong winds and blustery conditions. Nevertheless, Woodside Blue headed out to Strathalbyn to play Strath.

Woodside took the kick off and seemed to control the play for some time. With the speed of Diaz on the left wing, he was finding space and together with Jones as striker creating opportunities. From a couple of quick corner kicks Jones placed two good headers, but they flew just over the cross bar. It was Strath to make the first break through from a well placed corner kick that seemed to find its way through legs and bodies and into the goal.

Strath struck again for goal number two before Diaz finally found the net with a good boot from the left wing.

Woodside continued to work, with James-Freeman, Humphries and Mcinnes in defence challenging the Strath forward players. But with the wind on their side their Striker managed to get another ball through and into the goal, making it 3-1 to Strath at the half time break.

Returning from the break Woodside now had Mclean up front and together with Melville another couple of opportunities were made, but saved by the Strath keeper. Stott's fast pace up the wing, and Johnston's run from centre defence to the forward line created another few chances to score. The next goal finally came from a great cross from Bauer on the right wing, finished by Cotton in the box.

This was to be the last score of the game as Strath defences proved strong and they finished the day with a 3-2 win.
