Match report

Overview: Both teams evenly spread in both halves of the pitch in the first half, with MT dominant in attack and WW strong in defence. WW-2 / MT-4 at half time. Second half most of the game was played in the WW half pitch which saw MT gain another 5 goals. James, Ryan and Harry work very well up front, Maya strong in the middle, but it wasn't enough today.

Game: First half James was goalkeeper and came out to meet an opposition player with only Ruby hot on his heels, and blocked the shot. He made 3 saves in the first 10 minutes. Maya showed great initiative with accurate and measured control in defence. MT scored in the 12th minute. James appeared well outside of his box to block and clear, but an unmarked opposition scored the second in the 16th minute. Harry 'harried' MT with great tackling while they went wide with multiple shots towards goal. At one point after a long run Maya did a soft back pass to goalie not realising there was opposition directly behind. He tackled but Maya quickly recovered, regained the ball and cleared. Ryan hit a blinder goal in the 37th minute. And another in the 40th. James was faced with a 1-1 and dived to his right to stop a strike on goal, it rebounded and dived to his left to save another kick on goal. Great goalkeeping. He vented some frustration with WW defence and it wasn't a surprise to see him out in the second half.

James was hungry in the second half, and it showed with skilfull tackling and passing. He delivered an accurate pass to Harry from the goal side, who sent it home in the 51st minute. Harry put in a great run only to be tackled by their goalie, who took big risks way off his box that paid off. George and Ruby showed strength and resilience in defence. Banjo in goal was faced with a penalty in the 63rd, he read it right and saved the shot. He went on to save others in the 81st, 82nd and 83rd minutes. However, with most of the game now played in the WW half the pressure was on, and MT scored 5 more goals. Great effort from all.
