Lots of expectations for the last game of the season.  Hahndorf opened well, with a great first goal in the opening minute by Jacob Newman, but Mt Barker were quick to reply with a goal by Beau Riddle at the two-and-a-half-minute mark.

After the exciting opening, the teams settled into some hard fought football with both goalies being tested.

Hahndorf settled best in the first half, with Ryley Newman and Joash Ng creating space and opportunities up forward and in the end J Newman staring with a hattrick in the opening term.

Mt Barker kept cool heads with some excellent football in the first half.  Hahndorf’s awesome foursome of Angus Mifsud, Liam Sickerdick, Luca Cannavo and Blane Balcome held strong in defence, but Mt Barker’s Riddle finished with two strong goals for the half.

Hahndorf changed up their forwards in the second half with the Desil Aho (who had been keeper for the first hard) scoring two great goals.  Henri Bjordal chased hard all game and created chances up forward for J Newmann to score a fourth.

Mt Baker continued to push Hahndorf in the second half, goalie Pepe Zahara lead Hahndorf’s strong defence, saving several goals and was supported by Ollie Dahmke and Logan Maxwell but Mt Barkers, Riddle scored his third to finish the game with a hattrick.

Toby Perkins and R Newman worked tirelessly in the second half’s midfield and Perkins was rewarded with a goal to make it seven in total for Hahndorf.

Whilst there were a number of strong bumps throughout the game, both teams kept working hard all day, but Hahndorf were the strongest in the end finishing with a 7:3 win.
