Match report

Woodside Red came out strong, obviously confident on their home ground and putting early pressure on the Hahndorf side. Undeterred, Carter Karamanov and Charlie Kilpatrick were a strong defensive force with Eric Jager supporting with a huge kick that sent the ball down Hahndorf’s end. Kealan Atkinson in goals managed some great saves and an amazing kick out that was passed down the pitch almost heading towards Hahndorf goals before being turned around by the strong Woodside defenders who followed it through for the first goal of the game. Woodside kept this momentum going to score their next goal which Atkinson had positioned himself well to save, but unfortunately the ball just slipped through.

Fighting back, Will Neelawala showed great control dribbling the ball right down to the box for a shot on goal where he unfortunately became outnumbered by Woodside defenders. They moved the ball on quickly, leaving the Hahndorf defenders behind and bearing down on Atkinson in goals who stood strong and made an excellent save.

Woodside continued their strong performance in the second half with another quick goal. During another attack, Hahndorf showed incredible team spirit, gathering around W. Neelawala to check he was okay after his body was on the receiving end of the ball delivered by a powerful Woodside kick. Art Neville was consistently delivering some strong kicks through the centre of the pitch, along with Brooklyn Karamanov who pulled off some excellent steals.

Zeek Neelawala in goals for the second half was kept under immense pressure by the dominant Woodside offence, but still managed some great saves. Despite Hahndorf’s efforts, Woodside continued to play incredibly well as a team, positioning themselves well and passing the ball effectively, following it all the way to the goals.
