Round 12              Woodside u9         verse           Strathalbyn u9

It is 2/3 through the season and our team is finding we are really starting to gel as players, but the dreaded Covid is making it very hard to have a full team, today is like last week with 3 players out and the desperate need for u8 players to help us out it  has been lucky to have such big depth in the division below helping us out. 

Strathalbyn looked like a different team from the last time we met, coming at us with lots more firepower then we had previously experienced. This made the first half a massive battle back and forth with goals looking doubtful from both teams. 

We were well into the first half when I had one of our players come and speak to me and say look strathalbyn are all grouping together they haven’t learnt to spread out yet like us. A really proud moment for me showing that the team is listening and learning that the system works. 

Todays game was traditional like all with lots of back and forwards, but the bits that stand out as being really special for me was when strath tried to get the first goal of the game and our goalie got herself in the way of the ball, but it came to hard and fast and pushed through her arms, but she didn’t give up and managed to quickly do a second grab and save the goal. 

And the second moment of greatness was when there was a throw in that was then quickly run onto and pushed to the corner due to great defencive work, but kicked up and over the goalie on an acute angle into the top corner of the net , which sealed our victory 3-1
