Match report

Blackwood Forest's first home game of the season ended in a 5-3 win for the visiting Stirling Blue side in an entertaining clash at Springbank Secondary.

Blackwood began on the attack and with Stirling a player short in the opening minutes the home team opened the scoring with a quick attacking move in the 10th minute ending with a clean strike into the back of the net by Liam Dodd.

Stirling responded immediately with a goal just a minute later as neat build up play ended with a tap in.

The visitors took the lead with a superb long-range strike by former Blackwood player Jacob Kenning for his new team.

Blackwood continued to create chances and levelled the score at 2-2 on the stroke of half time with a flowing passing move creating space for Dodd to fire home his second.

The second half saw Blackwood again creating chances but it was the visitors who took the lead in the 61st minute with another long-range strike to the top corner giving the Forest keeper no chance.

Stirling extended their lead four minutes later with a fast counter attack catching Blackwood's defenders out of position and forcing the goalkeeper off his line leaving the Blue team's striker to calmly roll the ball home.

Blackwood pulled a goal back four minutes later with Austin Newbold slotting home after a good cross from the left wing.

Kenning made sure of the win for the visitors with another powerful shot in the 79th minute bringing the final 5-3 score line.

Blackwood showed significant improvement from the previous game and kept running and creating all morning while Stirling deserve credit for a hard-fought win, running out the full 80 minutes without having a substitute to call on.
