Match report

Well, what a day to be out playing soccer!  The morning was cool, and threatening for the heavens to open at any moment.

8:45am the whistle blew, Hahndorf had the kick off. The mighty forward line up of Carter Hartley, Danny Morgan and Josh Blain set the tone for the match. It was swift and smart passing, running up and being a support offering an option when faced with the Mt Barker United defence.

Closing in towards the end of the half Levi Neumann accelerated from the back line, passing off to Blain, with Hartley running along side to keep the opposition at bay, opened up the play and gave Blain a powerful shot at goals. Within minutes Levi Neumann, itchy to get in the forward action, made a dash to the goal line, and without hesitation his boot connected to the ball and saw it fly into the back of the goal.

The back line up Neumann, Jak Skinner and Mason Saywell all had the ball in their sights, never taking their eyes off it.  Talking between them and skilfully manoeuvring the ball out of the Mt Barker United’s attacking end. Jasper Christou in goals, had a keen eye in keeping all strikes at goals away.

Half time saw Sawyell get in the goals for the very first time, a little nervous to start but he soon settled in and really made a solid effort in defending all that United threw at him.

The attacking trio of Neumann, Skinner and Christou had their work cut out for them, continually having to pass off to ensure a path around the defenders.

It was wonderful to see both teams and spectators celebrating and encouraging the efforts of the two teams.  A snag and a coffee on the way out, made for a terrific start to the weekend.
