This chilly Saturday morning, the Hahndorf Under 7’s put on a solid effort for their first home game of the season against Bridgewater White at Rob Kilpatrick Park. Hahndorf’s game captain – William Moran – represented Hahndorf in the coin toss in front of a large home crowd of approximately 70 excited parents, siblings, family, and friends.
With both sides having many players, the teams decided to modify the game to 9v9 to give players more time on-field, a decision which was well-received by all! Hahndorf began the game with Chloe Pippos, Hamish Holmes, Ryan Glynn, Patrick Griggs, Avery Buchanan, Finn Bond, Asa Bartsch, Victor Bartsch, and Alfie McConville in goal (GK). McConville stopped a few early tries for goal by Bridgewater White, returning the ball to the Hahndorf defensive line. This allowed the Hahndorf offense to support Holmes in making several tries at goal, which unfortunately fell slightly short of the mark.
Players were substituted at the 10-minute mark, with Moran and Axel Pym bringing a renewed energy to the Hahndorf side, and a further few (sadly unsuccessful) tries at goal. Hahndorf returned from half-time looking rejuvenated and working well together as a team. Bridgewater White matched Hahndorf’s enthusiasm in both offense and defense, making this one a thrilling game to watch.
The Hahndorf team and officials would like to thank the Bridgewater White team and officials for an exciting game.
