Match report

Today saw us at Hahndorf with a perfect cool cloudy morning. This game would turn out to be one for the goal keepers with Hahndorf putting the pressure on. Our defence did an amazing job again building a brick wall from the start. Quinn starting out in goals with some amazing saves with him using his entire body. His last save unfortunately getting a ball to the face from a powerful kick towards goal. Gage was brought in to let Quinn recover, Gage then continuing with some amazing saves under high pressure with great aggression to the ball.

Hahndorf unfortunately snuck one through and finding the net. Woodside worked well and managed to get the ball down the attacking half with some great attempts at goal. The ball eventually found Will who had this amazing FIFA-esc moment and flicked the ball behind him to Adam who passed it onto Liam, Liam finished with a goal lobbing over the keepers head and finding the net.

Hahndorf continue putting the pressure on and our defence kept them at bay. A goal kick was intercepted very close to our goals and Hahndorf find the net for the second time late in the first half.

Second half saw Hamish take the gloves and golden top to have a turn in goals. This half would be intense for our defence and Hamish stopping many attempts on goal, Woodside also putting mountains of pressure on Hahndorf’s defence with great attempts from our attacking forwards. A very stressful moment for us parents as Hamish, our defence and mid-fielders having 6-7 attempts on our goals in as many seconds, a tremendous roar from the side lines as Hamish manages to grab the ball and stop the onslaught.

The half would finish with no goals being scored with the two teams being evenly matched throughout. Woodside showed amazing teamwork this match with great awareness for each other and great passing! This game really showcased how far we’ve come as a team! But this was the Goal Keepers game!
