Match report

Gold dominated the first half of the game in bright sunshine at Ashton. Our midfield halted many Rangers moves forward and in goal Logan Pielago grabbed anything that came his way. Jack Hogan was running non-stop while captain Ashley Hendrie and Toby Smith continually pushed the ball forward. Charlie Dvorak challenged an opposition player near the box and the ball spilled to his teammate. Persisting Charlie challenged him too, won the ball and slotted a beautiful strike into the back of the net. Within minutes Jo Smith dodged a few players and hit a hard strike past the keeper.

Just like the first week, Rangers emerged for the second half with a more fighting spirit and their top player started to weild his influence, Stefan Sims and Zaion Lorefice were finding themselves more in defence than attack as their top player scored once and then again. Gold was having difficulty clearing the ball  and because most players were being drawn into the defensive lines we were unable to create many chances for ourselves.

Toby Riemann was saving plenty in goals but their top player was just too good  and powerfully bagged his third late in the match.

For a new team with many new players, it is fantastic that Gold has scored 3 goals from the first 2 matches and led at half time in both. As they learn each others' name, pass more accurately and gain playing experience, a win may well be within reach.
