Match report

A beautiful clear winter morning greeted the U8s as they arrived for an early home game against Mt Barker United Blue at Hahndorf.

Miles Hennessey, Harris Parkyn, Michael Griggs and Hamish Glynn had the Mt Barker defence under extreme pressure right from the first whistle. Hennessy made several runs down the right side, only to have his shots denied by a very stout Mt Barker keeper. Parkyn opened up the Mt Barker defence with an excellent through ball to Griggs, who was unfortunately denied by a great save again by the Mount Barker keeper. Eventually the constant pressure was too much for Mt Barker, and the goals came for the hard working Hahndorf forwards. Any forays made by Mt Barker into their forward line were repelled by a strong Hahndorf defence of Scout Ramsay, Kealan Atkinson and Eric Jager. Sam Gardener also made some key saves while spending time in goals. 

An excellent outing by a group of enthusiastic young players who continue to improve week on week!
