Match report

Two highly skilled and enthusiastic Hills teams met at the Hahndorf home ground for a midday match today. Hahndorf started the game strong with James Austin scoring the first goal for the day. Julian Hack and Austin worked well together to keep the ball at the Hahndorf end of the pitch and made further attempts for goal.

Mt Barker fired back and caused William Whiting, Orland Rettig and Gabe Aylen to run hard and fast to defend the ball. Matthew Knight provided great defensive skills and big kicks against the Mt Barker Reds. All these boys must have clocked up many kilometres during this game. 

Thomas Boekel was a star in goalie, with his fast actions, dives and jumps, stopping many balls hitting the back of the net. Ruby Tully and Grace Hughes were new to the team this week but provided great defensive skills and settled into the game and the team perfectly. 

Harry Williams then scored a great 2nd goal for Hahndorf just before the rain started hammering down.

After halftime Zoe York, Emilyn Gilroy and Hayden Lien produced great footwork and ball skills to keep the game fast and action packed.

Stefan Panich, Angus McCrone and Hamish Robinson played well throughout the game, holding their positions and competitors in place. It was really great to watch and cheer on. The final score doesn't really reflect how competitive the game was.
