U9 Blue vs Bridgewater

A fantastic game of football today for the Woodside Under-9 blue team, and first clean sheet against Bridgewater at home.

After a few weeks of finding their feet and a couple of heavy losses to Stirling in previous rounds, the U9 Blues are beginning to gel as a team and showed some promising link-up play between midfield and the forwards.

The game started pretty evenly but the Woodside team soon showed their tenacity and a strong desire to win the ball in midfield and turn that into attack. This resulted in some period of reasonably sustained pressure from Woodside in their opponents’ half and a goal coming from Sam, who struck the ball well to beat the Bridgewater keeper. Despite a couple of Bridgewater free-kicks in dangerous positions, Woodside defended well and went into the break ahead.

Woodside maintained their focus for the second half, adding a couple of goals and restricting the Bridgewater team to counter-attacks, which the defence and keeper closed-down quickly and efficiently.

This win was the confidence boost the U9 Blue team needed. They showed promise in all areas of the field and can hopefully develop from here into a team that is difficult to beat.
