Nairne Vs Woodside Warriors Red

Nairne – 9:00am

We're back, and the everyone was obviously quite excited for this week's match as they lined up after having last weekend off.  Although there was a some rain about, the boys were ready to rumble.

Our first half got off to a fast start with a flurry of shots on goal, many of which were successful. Jesse was able to keep the ball moving forwards and give the forwards possession by making a few breakaway runs through the midfield.  It was impressive to see how we maintained our defensive positions despite the lack of action in the back half.  This guaranteed any forward moves from the opponent were stopped before they could turn into anything serious.  It also left our forward line open to allow the ball to be moved freely creating so much dangerous play.

This week's goalies were once again rather quiet, but Owen and Daniel were able to stay focused and weren't taking any chances with anything going past them.  It was encouraging to hear them giving instructions to the defenders and midfielders from between the posts.  Letting them know if they had moved out of place & setting them up to ensure there were no gaps for the opposition to get through.

In order to generate strong attacking options, the team's focus in the second half was passing the ball and moving to dangerous areas. In just a few games, Freddie, Eddie, and Owen have all made significant progress & today being the target of plenty of offensive plays. Working hard through the midfield and up forward, Scott, Nathaniel, Archer, and Mitch are providing plenty of ball to the top of the square allowing the forwards to do their thing. Another great performance boys. Its good to see some of the team plays starting to come together.
