Match report

A freezing and drizzly morning set the scene for Hahndorf's 9s Round 12 match against Stirling Districts. Due to the weather there was a last minute change for the game to be played at the Bradwood Park Futsal pitch. The first half commenced with both teams battling the ball in the middle of the pitch. Oliver Knight was in the thick of the action showing strong defence and great throw ins. Thomas Gould showed his skills kicking the ball down the field close to Handorf's goals but this was quickly counteracted by Stirling with the ball back soaring close to Stirling's goal. Soren Mickan in goals did a great save to stop one attempt, closely followed by Mason Saywell kicking the ball clear of the goals. The match continued to be tight, both teams fighting for a goal. Hugo Curtis's superb play brought the ball away from the Stirling players allowing Gould to convert a successful shot at goal for Hahndorf. Within a minute Stirling narrowly missed a goal attempt thanks to a great save from Mickan. It was not long before the end of the 1st half that Stirling scored their first goal also.

In the second half Hahndorf came out with strong attacking play from both Joshua Blain and Owen Hoyle. Saywell in goals was unphased by the persistence of the Stirling
team calmly saving 2 goal attempts in quick succession. Levi Neumann and Rowan Gilroy were an integral part of Hahndorf's continual strong play that led to the team scoring their second goal by Gould. The atmosphere was tense as the second half drew to a close, both teams continually defending and attacking well, it was still anyone's game. It was not long before Stirling's persistence paid off and they scored their second goal for the match. Overall, it was a good even match between both teams which
was reflected in the final score of 2-2. Well played Hahndorf and Stirling Districts!
