Torrens Valley Vs Woodside Warriors Red

Birdwood Park – 09:00am

We took on Torrens Valley today at Birdwood on a very misty, heavy pitch. Torrens Valley was missing a few players, so we had to bring a couple across to help out in each half. Thank you to Nathaniel, Jesse, Eddie, and Freddie for playing exceptionally well for the opponents and making things extremely challenging for the Warriors.

We began the first half with a style of play that we have shown consistently over the last few weeks. Attacking quickly and placing as much offensive pressure on the opponent as possible. We had the majority of possession and played with the ball largely in our half. Up front, Scott, Daniel, and Eddie all played well together to create a bombardment of chances. Freddie always appeared to find himself with the ball all over the pitch, reading the play and always in a good position to receive a pass. Torrens Valley were able to make a couple of fast breakaways and capitalised on the opportunities, bringing us into the halftime break 0-2 behind.

In the second half, the Warriors controlled the play all over the field and maintained the bulk of possession. Nathaniel and Luca were outstanding in defence, giving the rest of the team confidence that they would not give Torrens Valley any more chances to score. Mitchell and Jesse both dominated the ball through the midfield, creating plays and always putting Torrens Valley on the back foot, forcing them to play a defensive manner. The boys dug deep, allowing Archer to find the back of the net a couple of times for a fantastic comeback to tie the game (all of the boys desperate for a penalty shoot out after watching the World Cup through the week).

Another tremendous game from the boys, who never gave up and came from behind to level things up. The amount of possession and ball movement was excellent once again today. After some great crosses back into the top of the box and several players positioning themselves in the right position for a strike we were unlucky not to have a couple more in the back of the net. An excellent result, it's great to see the boys band together and keep their spirits high, helping them to achieve the results we keep seeing.

Scott Weaving his way past a couple of players he would usually be passing to (Jesse & Nathaniel)

Luca Getting a quick shot away.

Mitchell & Freddie battling for the ball.

The Celebration after the comeback to level things up(Archer , Jesse & Daniel).

Archer getting a shot away with Eddie in the goals locked in to try & stop it.
