Match report

The Woodside Warriors U10 Reds played a fantastic game on the 11th of July against Torrens Valley. It was a great display of teamwork and perseverance by the kids as we faced a strong Torrens Valley team with plenty of subs and we had to draft in Fletcher's little brother to make up 7!

The game started well with most of the play in our attacking half, with Maggie, Alice and Charlie working well in the front line to set up numerous opportunities on goal. Their hard work was rewarded 10 minutes in with an excellent goal from Charlie ably assisted by the rest of the team. Following the goal, Torrens Valley stepped up the intensity and pushed deep into our defensive half testing Ky at goals from which he made some excellent saves. Just before half time Torrens Valley scored an equalizer going into halftime with scores 1-1.

The second half saw a change of positions and another excellent display of teamwork, with most of the play in our attacking half. THe new forward combination of Eli, Alice, Ky and Charlie had several chances on goal but none getting past the Torrens Valley keeper. It was not until the 7th minute of the half that an excellent shot from the halfway line from Fletcher scored a goal to put us up by one goal. Torrens Valley really lifted in the last 5 minutes and managed to score a goal, ending the game as a draw 2-2.

Overall it was a brilliant match, all played well and displayed excellent sportsmanship. Well done everybody. Special thanks to Oliver for stepping up and playing for us and Fletcher's Dad for refereeing.
