Round 5

Woodside U13 blue  vs  Stirling Districts U13.

Report made by a member of Team Blue!  -  parent's CHEER squad - Dave Vanderaa

What was building to be a cracking game of soccer didn't disappoint between the warriors and highly rated Stirling.

As the rain began to fall the game started with Stirling dominating possession in the early period of the half. Woodside warmed up to their positions and roles quickly however and hit the scoreboard first with an absolute wizz of a shot from Jackson that beat the keeper to score for Woodside.

Possession continued to remain with Stirling who scored shortly after and had several several shots on goal. Some sound keeping from William and top defensive efforts from Thomas ,Lukas,Dean and Walter as well asTye holding the midfield strong enabled Woodside to take their opportunities and score a second goal through another cracking shot off Jackson's boot.

Unfortunately injury took its toll in the first half with several players getting hurt through solid defensive efforts on field.

The first half 2-3 with heads held high.

The second half a battered Woodside continued to push forward through the terrible weather and injury to represent the Club well.

Abbie's confidence continued to grow as she went in hard for the ball and  created several important plays.

As did Lillian who chased hard and never shied away from a tackle.

Much of the second half was spent in the defensive half but it was excellent to see heads up and more importantly a wonderful team spirit particularly when others noticed their team mates were having a hard time.

Shout out to Dean for his goalie efforts in the second half while injured and Hamish for always showing positivity particularly during tough times.

The end of the game whistle blew with a final score 2-8.

A solid team effort and we look forward to facing Murray Bridge next week.
