Round 16         Woodside Rams Vs Mount Barker                  Venue the Summit

It was a beautiful almost spring day with  little wind, no rain, and mild temperatures. 

We had most of our squad available and we were hoping for a win to brake our recent run of losses, but time will tell. 

It was a late start and warm up was hard to manage with no pitch to warm up on, the girls were making good work of the wall and the mini goals so at least they were moving. 

Finally we started and it was looking promising for us early with plenty of possession and in our favour. However every time we tried to score it would get stopped by the goalie, cudos to them for a fine effort, the first half was nearly over and scores were still level , then finally a run down the wing and a cross and in the ball went , Woodside Rams  was ahead. 

But Barker was not going away.  Our usual defence, was looking a bit different at the start. Of the half as our normal centre back was a late arrival, but replacement was not disappointing reading the ball the best she has all season and pressuring at the right moments leaving her speedy help to sweep around behind and grab the loose ball and clear away. Great team work at the back well done girls. 

Half time break and it was looking to be a low scoring match as only the 1 goal scored in the first half. 

Early in the second we gained control of the play, and were just having to watch the rebound from barker as the goalie would stop attempt after attempt.  A change in the front line and this created a small opportunity that led to our second goal. 

Time ticked on and on and no more goals had been scored, it was looking as though we were going to get a clean sheet. We only had minutes left and a surprise attack from Barker which was shot on our goal, a save , wait it had bounced off  a second shot , another save. Great  job goalie. But barker now had a corner. Third time lucky Barker finally got the ball into the net and beat our goalies outstanding performance. 

Only 1 minute remained and we tried to get a bounce back, but the whistle beat us and game was done.
