Match report

Hahndorf starts with the kick-off against Blackwood Green on a very cold morning at Mount Barker Summit Sports Centre with both teams working hard early to create a tight tussle with the defence from each team holding up well.

Hahndorf's first goal started with Jack Gaskin successfully tackling a player to take the ball up the left wing passed to Eli Parkyn who touched the ball on to Rigby Barnes with it reaching Tom Gould who was onside and scored the goal. Over the next 15 minutes most of the play took place in Hahndorf’s forward half with shots on goal by Barnes, Sam Griffiths and Gould. The forward pressure eventually paid off with Samuel Pearce scoring a goal in tight congestion through receiving from Louis Moran who worked tirelessly throughout the match.

Caleb Earley intercepted a shot on goal and cleared successfully late in the first half which gave Hahndorf a handy lead going into the second half. However, within the first minute of the second half Blackwood scored due to clean passing which made it very difficult for Jackson Bidgood to defend as goalie. Blackwood increased forward pressure with two more quick attempts on goal that were saved by Bidgood.

Hahndorf wrestled back control with most of the play in their forward half. Blackwood succumbed to the forward pressure with Flynn Menzies successfully taking a shot on goal. Soon after this Hahndorf was awarded a penalty kick due to a hand ball and was able to covert the goal. Blackwood pushed forward again with a strike on goal that was intercepted by Gaskin who read the ball well and cleared it out. The ball made it to Harry Wood in the centre who found some open space, dribbled down to o the goal beating two defenders and scored another goal for the team.

Noah Duggan and Oliver Ramsey continued to get important touches during the match which provided opportunities for the team to keep moving the ball forward into good places for attacking players and Sonjae Cook was rewarded for his efforts throughout the game with a great strike on goal that converted to take the final score out to 6-1 at full time.
