Round 2  Woodside Rams VS Strathalbyn Strikers

It was a cold Saturday afternoon with storm clouds above tempting to drop a ton of rain, 

We were three girls down this week, with one recovering from a goal saving mild concushion , a dislocated knee cap , and a strained ankle . a big thankyou to our two fill ins whom really helped with our rotations . 

The Game began with the Woodside Rams heading north with the wind on our backs as the cold southerly wind pushed the ball hopefully into our favour. 

The first half was looking good with most of the play in Woodside Rams attacking end . this was thanks to the whole team working together to push the ball forward and put in the first effort, the second effort and the third effort. 

2 goals were scored early in the half and it was looking like we were in a place to score more, but Strath was not going down without a fight,  the half was almost over and a goal was scored from a metre from the goal line, but wait it was over ruled as the linesman had his hand in the air it was an off side play, we had had a lucky escape. Strath pressed again, but this time it flew over the top, and the ended up keeping us to the two goals all the way to the half time break. 

A change of ends and now with the wind in our face the play had changed its tune. Strath was now holding the ball in our defensive end and goal attempt after goal attempt was being had  finally strath had earned a corner ball and they capitalized on this with a  quick kick in and a shot on goal , scored. 

Tension was high now with only a goal separating the two teams, Strath continued to press and so was Woodside Rams  the play was  going down both ends , another off side goal .  Still only a goal separating. 

It had come down to 5 minutes remaining and it was looking like scores had been decided, but wait here comes the Woodside attack, a through ball  and a fumbled kick, a post and in the back of the net. Finally some breathing space for the Woodside Rams.  

Lots of side line throws and goal kicks and general slowing down of play and the game was won. Great team work Woodside Rams.
