Blackwood Forest hosted Torrens Valley Soccer Club at their home ground of Springbank Secondary College at 10.00am on cool, overcast morning.

The first half of the match was most energetic, with the ball travelling from one end of the pitch to the other frequently, most commonly from unconverted opportunities. Ben A opened the match scoring for the Blackwood Team, picking up a loose ball at the 4 minute mark. Torrens Valley were unlucky to score before Cooper M’s goal at 39 minutes having had many attempts on goal that were either thwarted by the safe hands of Blackwood Keeper Austin N, or were off target by the smallest of margins. Blackwood were also unable to find the net again and at half time the teams were one all.

Blackwood’s Ben A looked to start the second half as he had begun the first with an early shot. This one was saved by the Torrens Valley Keeper. As in the first, Torrens Valley took the ball straight into their offensive half and their responding shot on goal just wide. Another attempt followed within minutes from a corner kick, just high of their target. A moment later Torrens Valley’s Harrison P added to their score, capitalising on the Blackwood Keeper moving out of goal a little too early. Hungry to increase their one goal lead, Torrens Valley had a further 2 attempts within 3 minutes, their first attempt wide and their second saved. Blackwood’s attempts to equalise were denied by the Torrens Valley Keeper, including a flurry of 3 consecutive attempts to find the net. In the back and forth play that continued, Torrens Valley’s Cooper M and Harrison P succeeded to score again, as did Blackwood’s Ben A giving each of the game scorers 2 goals apiece.
