Match report

With yet another beautiful sunny Winter’s day at Bradwood Park, both teams were ready to kick things off. Straight away the girls were in their zones ready to take on the opposition. Stirling were quick to take possession and run the play into their half of the pitch, having a shot on goal. Though Woodside’s keeper was set in position and cleared the ball out of the box with no hesitation. Within a seconds of clearing it out the box, Woodside’s defenders were swift to take on Stirling’s forwards, however a bit too strong, giving Stirling a shot at penalty. Though Woodside’s goal keeper Rachel Colla was hot on it and saved the ball from goal. It didn’t take Stirling too long to reset, winning back possession and scoring their first goal of the game in the 6th minute.  Woodside knew they had to get back into pressure mode.

Half time saw Stirling up three nil, and knew they had to act quick to get through Woodside’s strong defenders. This quick action play payed off, awarding them their fourth goal of the game. Seeing this quick game play, Woodside turned up their pace and saw newest player MJ Strauss assisting Esther Whetter take on Stirling’s defenders and capturing their first goal of the game. Stirling weren’t too keen on this little victory and were soon to score a couple more of their own. Woodside’s midfielders saw an opportunity to sneak through Stirling’s defence line, making Stirling apply the pressure, however a little too much pressure was in force giving Woodside a penalty shot. Woodside’s midfielder, MJ, was ecstatic to take Woodside’s first ever penalty and succeeded in her mission. With only a few minutes to go, Stirling were hot to keep the game play in their half of the pitch.

Superb game played by all, proud to see Woodside proving they have come a long way from the beginning of the season. Thank you to all supporters who came out to cheer on the girls and to the referee and linesmen for their important roles.
