First match for the season Woodside Warriors U13 Red travelled to Hahndorf to play Them on their home turf. Warriors tried to dominate from the first whistle but Hahndorf let them know they were to play and play hard. Warriors had control of the ball but Hahndorf applied the pressure. Sidney Cotton had first attempt at goal only 3 minutes into the game but Hahndorf goalie was having none of that and blocked it beautifully. Warriors managed to keep possession of the ball and Mack Olsson scored Warriors first goal at the 4 ½ minute mark. Hahndorf then put the upped the anti and gained possession and managed to sneak through the midfield and had a few shots for goals. Warriors Barnaby Bevan played Goalie like a Pro and deflected the first few attempts. With lots of back and forth and pressure from both teams. Sidney Cotton, Mack Olsson, Dom Silvestri and Israel Maxwell kept the ball in our forward for some time and after Matisse Mack had an attempt at goal and narrowly missed D. Silvestri came through scoring at the 117- and 24-minute marks. S. Cotton then followed on with his first goal just 2 minutes later. Warriors Max Davis, Jesse Mewett and Eddie Moylan played hard in the mid field but Hahndorf got through and scored their first goal 32 minutes in first half. Warriors D. Silvestri scored the last goal for the first half with only seconds to go leaving Warriors in front 5-1 at half time. Both teams came out with vengeance and determination to put goals on the board. Hahndorf defense stepped up and made it hard for Warriors to get close to goals. Warriors defense also had to step it up and that they did. Poppy Thomas was a force to be reckoned with and played tight defense all game scoring her the player of the match. Ollie Boerth and Morgan Burroughes worked hard in front of Hahndorf goals stopping what he could and assisting goalie James Lunnon in stopping many shots at goal. S. Cotton and D. Silvestri both scored 1 more goal each in the second half. Barney Bevan kicked his first for the season close to the end of the game and helped Warriors claim a convincing win of 8-2 for the first game of the 2021 Season.
