Mount Barker White Vs Woodside Warriors Red

Woodside Recreation Ground – Modified Pitch – 10:00am

We hosted Mt Barker White at Woodside this week, leading up to the game there was some confusion due to a random change in the Fixture.  With a lot of noise coming from the sidelines cheering on our young champs, the crowd was really getting into the game, and the guys were determined to win.

As soon as the game started, it was evident that they guys were working hard to build on their successful teamwork from last week.  Nathaniel & Jesse both making numerous strong runs through the midfield and into attack.  Ed worked himself into a dangerous position to receive a pass, turned, & sent a shot screaming past the keeper to put us on the scoreboard and saw himself with his first goal of the year.  As the first half went on we watched a great piece of team play with a brilliantly delivered cross from Archer to Scott racing into the ideal spot for a one touch goal. I n addition to shifting the ball away from the Mt. Barker attack and launching their own quick attacks, Freddie and Luca worked as our rock-solid defence, not letting anything get past them.

During the second half we had a few adding to the tally, both Mitchell & Daniel showcasing their forward movement & putting the ball in the back of the net.  There was some great ball movement & some hard running from the boys that created a huge amount of scoring opportunities. I t was great to see everyone build on last weeks game to put together another great team game.

Everyone's ball control and confidence in deciding whether to pass or take on a player is impressive.  It's exciting to see how the lads move into a position, confident that their teammates will do their best to get the ball in the right area. You're all doing an excellent job, boys!
