The Hahndorf Under 12 Magpies made an impressive start to the 2021 Season, with a 3-1 win against the Woodside Warriors that was hard fought by all the team. 

From the opening whistle, Hahndorf took the attack up to the Warriors, with Levi and Hayden busy all day during the game. Following a well executed pass from Emlyn, Levi delivered the first goal. Encouraged by Levi’s flare, Hayden was soon to follow with another two goals. The play only intensified, and though the boys struggled to take advantage of the full pitch, they kept a tight form, with great passing and communication between Dante, Patrick and Lawson in midfield and the boys in attack. When the opposition managed to push the ball forward, Hahndorf was quick to diffuse it, with Oli and Jacob fearless in the defense and Ryder unstoppable in goals. 

In the second half, the Magpies seemed to relax into more spread out positions and demonstrated they could play in a more composed way, without letting go of the ferocity. Perhaps it was their opponents rubbing off on them, as Woodside demonstrated great discipline and focus throughout, thoroughly working the field and making the Hahndorf boys work even harder in the second half. Although Woodside launched an impressive counterattack, with plenty of shots at goals, they weren't able to get more than one goal in the second half and the game went to Hahndorf. A fantastic first match and a solid effort by both teams.
