Match report

1st half began with immediate pressure from Stirling the ball spending a lot of time in Woodside’s half. An early shot at goal by Liam helps with the teams confidence. Some strong defensive work at play particularly from Daniel with some excellent clearances, stopping a number of would-be shots at goal.

A match pause was called about 10 minutes in as we learned of some new rule changes regarding kicking inside the box and no longer needing to return to the halfway line for goal kicks.

With the new rules in tow, the team adapts quickly considering the extent of the changes.

Still strong pressure from Stirling and Hamish makes two great saves in quick succession- one required to jump on the ball a second time right on the line and against the goalpost.

Some strong attacking from Woodside between Gage, Adam, Will and Liam saw the ball now spending some more time in Stirling’s half and a few shots at goal! Adam delivers the first goal for the match before half time is called!!

2nd half begins with immediate pressure from Stirling with the rain now starting. William makes two great saves from some early shots at goal. Kaleb in assistance with some big clearances the ball now ending up in Stirling’s half. Stirling begin gaining good control of the ball resulting in 4 successive goals for the opposition. The rain now becoming heavier.

Some great attacks from Woodside saw some confidence returning but Stirling turn it around again and score another goal. Another attack by Woodside results in a goal between the goalie’s legs by Liam. Liam, Adam, Will and Gage continue to apply pressure with some great teamwork running up together resulting in a good shot at goal-but it’s smothered by the goalie. Stirling return the favour resulting in another goal to them.

All in all a great match in tough conditions with rule changes to adapt to. Stirling going home having delivered a really strong second half. Well played Woodside!
