Match report
It felt like winter for Hahndorf U9s Round 9 game against Strathablyn White. The sun was
out but there was a real chill to the air so players of both teams were all eager to get the match started.
Soren Mickan's first half as goalkeeper was quickly off the mark with the ball coming straight to the goal within
a minute of the game's commencement. Owen Hoyle moved quickly into the thick of the action with
some brilliant footwork that set Thomas Gould up for a goal shot. Tyson Bancroft was very effective in
the centre of the field keeping the ball away from the Strathalbyn team but it was not to be for long.
Strathablyn contested hard which led to Mason Saywell getting a throw-in but Strath were quick to again
get the ball and narrowly missed a goal shot. Gould showed his superb skill as a striker bringing the
ball from Strath's end of the field down to Hahndorf's scoring Hahndorf's first goal of the game. Hugo
Curtis defended exceptionally to stop yet another attempt by Strath to get the ball in the goal. Gould
went down with a leg and head injury but quickly got back up with exceptional energy. Shortly after
Hoyle kicked a spectacular shot which landed right in the goal, one of the best looking of the season so
far! Rowan Gilroy was a solid team member whose superb play continued to hassle Strath. Levi
Neumann and Oliver Knight came on the field and were both quick to get in on the action showing their
skill and keenness to get the ball as close to the goal as possible, resulting in Neumann finding the back

of the net for another Hahndorf goal. Joshua Blain was strong in defence with

big kicks keeping the ball away from the Strath goal. Second half saw Bancroft in goals for Hahndorf. Mickan
as a striker had a shot at goal within the first few seconds of the second half. Strath came out very
determined and quickly scored their first goal, followed shortly after by another. The game continued to
be hard fought with great skill and determination shown by both teams. Hahndorf persisted managing to score two more goals

from Mickan and Gould late in the second half. It was a great, friendly match, well done to both teams!
