U17Girls – 11th July 2020

Stirling Districts (6) vs. Woodside Warriors (0)

Third game of the season hosted by Stirling Districts and another glorious Winter’s day. Kick-off proceeded on time which was perfect timing as the rain stopped before kick off and held off the entire game.

Stirling held possession in their half for the majority of the game, keeping the Warrior’s defence on their toes.

First goal of the game was scored by Stirling in the first six minutes of the game after pushing through Warrior’s strong defence and shooting just inside the box. Only a couple of minutes after kick-off, Stirling turned possession into their half and took another opportunity on goal though Warrior’s goalkeeper was ready and deflected the shot. First corner kick of the game saw a magnificent kick by Stirling’s #6 Ashlyn where the ball sore through the air straight into the top of the goals. Another few goals in saw Warrior’s defence starting to play strong and smart, making it more difficult for Stirling to shoot from inside the box. This strong defence also caught Stirling offside a number of times throughout the game, challenging Stirling.

Half time saw a couple of changes, including Warrior’s goalkeeper Karina whom not only is her first season of soccer but also the first game ever playing goalkeeper.  She did a marvellous job in goals, deflecting a number of shots on goal and applying pressure on Stirling’s forward players. Stirling played a splendid game, working well as a team, coherent and playing a strong forward line. They were humble with their win and congratulated the Warriors on their efforts.  The score didn’t match the amount of effort and spirit that was shown on the pitch today, well done to both teams.
