Hahndorf under 17 played Ashton Rangers on Saturday 4th Sept.  Hahndorf came out strong from the first whistle and put a lot of pressure on the Rangers defence.   There was a number attempts by Hahndorf at goal, but they failed to convert.  Tyler Weyland managed a clean shot at goals, and whilst a Ranger defender valiantly tried to block the advancing ball, it deflected off their boot into the back of the net for the first goal for Hahndorf.

This fired up the Rangers, who began a relentless stream of mid field attacks and runs towards the goals.  A momentary lapse of concentration by Hahndorf defenders saw the Rangers slip into the goal square and score their first goal.  The first half of the game was almost done, and a minute before the half time whistle, Kyle Fenlon scored Hahndorf’s second goal.

The rain returned at the start of the second half, making the ball and ground extremely slippery.  It was an evenly matched game, until a perfectly timed pass from Xavier Kell to Stefan Panich saw Handorf score their third goal.

Hahndorf were awarded a corner kick, and nicely placed ball at Fenlons feet enabled him to score his second goal for the game, and Hahndorf’s fourth goal.  Rangers were given an opportunity to score through a penalty, but an amazing save by the goalie Tom Boekel further frustrated the Rangers.  Late in the game Weyland scored Hahndorf’s fifth goal from a curved corner kick ball.
