Match report
The final game of the season was played out at oval against Stirling United White. While wet under foot leaving strips muddy for the team manager to wash, the game was full of excitement and those long awaited first goals for a couple of players! Stirling got out of the gates quickly with an early attempt on goal saved by strategically positioned goalie Lucca Falvo-Lopez. Good passing between the Hahndorf boys saw the ball spend the rest of the first half up their end with Hugo Curtis making the first attempt on goal letting the Stirling players know they were here to play for keeps. Jhett Frost soon followed up finding the back of the net putting Hahndorf in the lead. Resetting back to the middle the Hahndorf boys were off again with the next two goals being scored by Curtis with exceptional team work and passing by team mates Caleb Earley, Lachlan Gardiner and Connor Castle (out of goals and on the move today). In the true spirit of teamwork it was now time for Rowan Gilroy, usually a powerful defender, to add one to his tally just before the half time siren.

The second half began with a quick break by Stirling resulting in a goal but this only served to fire up the Hahndorf boys and that was the last Falvo-Lopez saw of the ball. Spurred on by his fathers bribery ($50 for a goal), Zack Perkins slotted the next couple in to the net as the team continued to show coach Eddie Hardingham everything they had learnt this year. Another Frost goal followed and after several attempts going wide, Gardiner finally got one home. But the absolute winner for today had to be Gilroy’s final goal from almost half way. Lifting the ball over everyone’s heads, the crowd watched it sail through the air, over the goalies head and just under the top bar. A great game to finish the season with an exceptional win 9-1.

Well done to everyone on a great season!
