Match report

The Warriors Under 12s matched up against Stirling (blue) at home for their penultimate game of the season. It was never going to easy, having lost to Stirling in earlier rounds, but they showed they were all up for the challenge.

The action started early with a flying shot from Stirling grabbed by goalie Barnaby. Sid Cotton and Max Davis were both key upfront, moving the ball with speed towards our goal, and were supplied continuously with solid passes from Mack Ollsen, who never disappoints in defence. Israel Maxwell, Oliver Boerth and Jett Warren ran in fearlessly to tackle every time, moving the ball away from danger and towards our strikers, and James Lunnon did some great running along the wing after poaching the ball. Will Limbert did several fantastic long passes to move the ball towards our half.

We got our first goal against Stirling (from Eddie), but unfortunately it was offside. Stirling soon had their first goal for the match, and Eddie Moylan nearly equalised before it was grabbed by the goalie. Stirling was unlucky by getting an own goal through pressure from Max Davis, but it was skills not luck that netted our second goal, which was supplied by Sid to Eddie and flew high to solidly land in the back of the net.

Barnaby had another cracking save, but Stirling managed to get one past to secure their third. Dom Silvestri later made a thrilling run to secure our third for the first half.

Both sides give it their all in the second half and both sides' defence were even more determined to minimise any chances at goal. Barnaby saved a few more shots, and we soon took the lead. Left footer Max was thrilled to pop one in on his right foot earning the much coveted prize of the golden snag, but Stirling later upped the ante with another goal.

With everyone on the sidelines now biting their nails, defender Morgan Burroughes nearly scored and Dom and Eddie came close again. Sid was denied two goals by the determined Stirling goalie, and one eventually made it in but was unfortunately offside. Troy Murray ran his legs off, tackling hard and offloaded to his team mates allowing us to move the ball well up the pitch time and time again. After a corner shot, midfielder James Lunnon secured our fifth goal, giving us the lead which we maintained to the end.

Woodside had many more opportunities to score, and the play was a fast paced and skillful from both sides making for an entertaining match for spectators. After a challenging stretch, the Warriors have continued to claw back the rest of the season. Their latest efforts against Stirling Blue did not disappoint. Great job everyone.
