Match report

Woodside U17 Red knew they were up for a tough match before they even set foot on the pitch at Springbank Secondary College to play Blackwood today. Woodside were up for the challenge though. It was a fast paced game from the very first whistle. Woodside defence were tight and did their best to stop Blackwood getting the ball anywhere near their goals for the first few minutes. Woodside attacked the ball well and moved the ball down the pitch with precision to get on the scoreboard first. Blackwood were not going to go down easily though and followed up with their first goal a few minutes later. Both teams were well matched up and play was up and down the field consistently with goalies on both sides working tirelessly. Blackwood then scored again and Woodside wasn’t going to let them stay ahead and followed with another goal of their own. Both teams were hungry for a win and went into half time with scores even at 3 apiece. Second half was well played by both teams and spectators were on the edge of their seats watching a game with lots of skill on display. Blackwood scored the first goal in the second half and then it took a while for Woodside to even the score again with a goal of their own. It wasn’t good enough for Woodside to have an even score so they stepped it up again and pushed hard. It payed off with Woodside kicking the last goal of the game which put them in the lead by 1 goal. Woodside then held their lead and won the match by 1. Was a great game to watch and even though Woodside were up against it from the start they played a brilliant game and came out with the win.
