The break in the rain and hail at Bradwood Park Sporting Grounds saw the Hahndorf Under 13’s team demonstrate determination and teamwork despite a win by the home team, Stirling Districts, 0 – 4.

The first half saw defenders Jack Gaskin, Christopher Haynes, Harry Wood and Jacob Gerber keeping pressure on their opponents and together and along with Caleb Earley, worked hard to intercept the ball with some big kicks sending the ball back down the field. Emlyn Gilroy and Sonjae Cook demonstrated awareness of their teammates with confident and intentional kicks allowing Louis Moran to take two shots at goal. Eli Parkyn ran the ball down the line on several occasions and was consistently working hard through the centre of the field. Jackson Bidgood displayed great coordination and commitment, saving a number of attempted goals by the opposition. Before half-time the team had settled into their positions keeping pressure on their opponents with no score from either team.

An early goal to Stirling Districts in the second half didn’t stop Cohen Whitfield to take control of the ball through the centre and Ashon Broadbent-Shaw displayed skilful footwork with a side pass to his teammate who was able to take a shot at goal. Rowan Gilroy also used his teammates with some excellent passing during the second half. Despite another three goals from the opposition, the team demonstrated commitment with Haynes heading to deflect a throw-in and Lawson Shotton withstanding the pressure when taking a penalty shot in front of goals.

The Hahndorf Under 13’s team put in a solid effort and congratulate Stirling Districts team for their 4-goal win over Hahndorf.
