Match report

Handorf’s Under 9s White team took on the FC Summit Under 9s at the Anembo Park in Mount Barker on Saturday morning.
Hahndorf started with Kaylee Sheremetjev as goalkeeper, Eden Stell and Charlotte Rymer in defence position, Holly Pippos and Amelie Rymer as midfielders and Saskia Merry and Vesna Barska in attack.
Sheremetjev started strongly, defending several goal shots, helped by Pippos with a well-defended corner. A. Rymer made confident passes in the midfield and ferociously spotted FC Summit players, as well as Merry making some brilliant passes to C. Rymer.  Willow Duggan substituted Barska and defended a powerful goal kick. Anu Duggin came on the field at 15 minutes and began putting pressure on the opposing team, brilliantly carrying the ball deep into the opposition’s half, and taking a shot at the goal, which hit the post, in the last minute of the first half.
In the second half, FC Summit graciously allowed for an extra Hahndorf player on the field to even out the competition. A strong start to the second half began with a determined attack from the left field. Merru donned the goalkeeper’s jersey, making several confident saves. Stell shadowed the opposing player very deftly and defended competently. Pippos made a brilliant pass to teammate Scout Ramsey, and Barska made a valiant attempt at intercepting the ball from the opposition.
Whilst Hahndorf did a good job at keeping positions, they struggled to move into their forward half and convert attacking manoeuvres into goals. Overall, Hahndorf showed improvement and greater cohesion as a team.
