Match report

A beautiful day greeted the Hahndorf Soccer Club Under 14 Team who were searching for their first win of the season, playing against Murray Bridge. It was a very even first 8 minutes with Tom Boekel starting out well in the goals. A shot by Harry Williams hit the crossbar to narrowly miss scoring. Murray Bridge returned fire to score the first goal of the day. James Austin, Will Whiting and Orland Rettig were all getting plenty of the ball.

Tom Boekel was working hard as Murray Bridge forced a relentless attack on the goals. It was not looking good for Hahndorf as Murray Bridge scored twice more to take a 3-0 lead. Damon Martin and Stefan Panich were looking dangerous before James Austin scored the first goal for Hahndorf. A super corner kick from Orland Rettig saw him score a second goal to bring us up to 2-3 going into half time and Hahndorf’s spirits were lifting.

The half time talk from the coach worked as Hahndorf booted the equalizer in the first minute of play thanks to another from Stefan who was really starting to fire! Konrad Michael was starting to get busy coming out of defence. Elwin and Gabe Aylen, Julian Hack and Matthew Knight were also getting into the action. A good pass from Harry to James saw the 4th goal and shortly after another from James to Stefan saw him achieve his 3rd goal of the day to bring the score to 5-3. Hahndorf were on fire!

Angus McCrane and Hamish Robinson were playing well. Tom B was coming out of goals the repel the Murray Bridge attacks and even suffered a ball to the side of the head to save a goal. Murray Bridged managed another goal, followed by another from Hahndorf  then a 4th from Stefan to finish the heart stopping game with Hanhndorf the eventual winners on 7-5!
