Match report

A beautiful sunny morning and a dry pitch at Springbank Secondary College made for ideal conditions at the start of the Hahndorf versus Blackwood Forest clash, before winter clouds subsequently rolled in. Following last weekend's 4-3 defeat at the hands of Woodside leaving Hahndorf second on the ladder, the Magpies were hellbent on revenge against their sixth-placed adversaries, Blackwood Forest.

Hahndorf started the game strongly with Toby Thomas scoring an early goal. This was followed by a solo goal from Hahndorf's Jesse Powell and then good forward collaboration resulted in a goal by Hanndorf's Alexander Romaldi. Blackwood Forest showed great promise going forward in numerous attacks but weren't able to capitalise with a goal. Hahndorf's Jesse Powell made the most of an errant goalkeeper kick-in to score his second goal of the match, and soon after that Hahndorf's Alexander Romaldi also kicked his second goal. Just before half time, an unfortunate hand ball by Hahndorf resulted in a penalty kick which was successfully converted by Blackwood Forest, with the half time score being 5-1 to Hahndorf.

Hahndorf's Jesse Powell started the second half in fine form up forward, scoring two goals in quick succession and finishing with four for the match. Then Alexander Romaldi scored his third goal for Hahndorf before Toby Thomas chimed in with his second goal for Hahndorf. Blackwood Forest spent a large part of the second half in their forward zone but due to the stellar work from Hahndorf's defence, Blackwood Forest's attacking efforts were all thwarted. Alexander Romaldi scored the last goal of the game for Hahndorf to leave him on four goals for the game along with Jesse Powell. The final score was a solid 10-1 victory to Hahndorf, sating the team's desire for an improved performance on last weekend's. The best player of the game was adjudged Jesse Powell, with second place shared between Alexander Romaldi and Rhys Davies and third place going to Luca Cannavo.
