Round 5                    Strathalbyn Strikers VS Woodside Rams

It was another day down on the flats of Strathalbyn, wind was blowing and girls were happy and hungry, I myself was feeling weary, but keen to get into a game.

The girls had a light warm up, but still looked ready to play. We had three ring ins from the Mixed division so our team looked a little different than normal.

Our mid field our forwards and our base line was looking different, and the squad from strath was looking like normal to an untrained outsider eye.

Game began and it was looking close our goalie had made some good saves and like wise the Strath goalie also made a bunch of saves.

Strath had the ball in our defensive  end and  were looking organised like they were setting up a play they had practiced. Oh no a pass back and fired upon Strath had their first breakthrough, our goalie looking absolutely devastated.

A change was made to Woodside and our attacking line was looking a little more threatening. Return fire was taken and scores were back level. Minutes later we thought it was going to happen again, but the Strath goalie was in a class of her own defending the one on one attack.

Second half was here and scores were tied. looking like we might have a chance of keeping our winning streak going. We now were playing into the wind and we could definitely see the legs of the girls were starting to tire.

It was late in the half and scores were still level, but then a lucky goal from a forward press and Strath were in the lead.

Woodside Rams were not going down quietly though. It felt like 10 corners down our attacking end, and all attempts just missing by the near side of the goal, but no equaliser then 1 minute was left and Strath got a ball past the half way and broke free made a beautiful cross and scored a perfect play again.

The siren went and Strath were the victors this time around.
