Strathalbyn hosted Blackwood at their home ground on Saturday 14th August at 11am on a fine, warm, blue skied morning.

From the moment of kick off, Strathalbyn started off as they continued: strong. Raife T scoring within the first few minutes. The team peppered the Blackwood goal a further 3 times, each one saved by Blackwood Keeper, Angus D, before Strathalbyn’s Hamish W scored the team’s second for the half.  Four minutes later, Blackwood’s Loki N found the back of the net from a corner. Strathalbyn jumped straight onto the attack, dominating the play for 15 minutes, until Blackwood’s Caden R scored an equalising goal. Further attempts by both sides were unsuccessful leaving the teams tied 2 – 2 at the end of the half.

In the second half Blackwood’s failure to keep the Strathalbyn team marked provided the home side with ample opportunities to demonstrate their accurate passing and shooting skills. Finlay G proved to be a force to be reckoned with, finding the net 3 times before Blackwood found their momentum and made attempts to decrease the Strathalbyn lead. It was not to be Blackwood’s match, however, and their scoreline remained at 2 for the remainder of the match. Finlay G scored a further 2 goals, making his personal total 5 for the match, and Ben G scored the final Strathalbyn goal.
