Match report
It was a drizzly start to the match but all players from both Hahndorf and Stirling Blue were ready and eager to play. As the game warmed up both teams were handling the ball well with Thomas Gould taking a corner kick towards goals, while it came close unfortunately it wasn’t quite there. This was quickly followed by Hugo Curtis making another impressive attempt, only for the ball to rebound off the post. While Hahndorf’s offence players Ashton Broadbent, Gould and Curtis fought hard with midfielders Jack Gaskin and Rowan Gilroy to keep the ball, Stirling were eventually successful at scoring the first goal of the match.  As the game continued, we saw Hahndorf’s defence team, Mason Sickerdick, Alice Cannavo, Eli Parkyn and Pearl Beesley in goals work together in preventing Stirling take another goal. Subsequently Broadbent went on to perform a great pass across to Gould who secured Hahndorf’s first goal for the game. Soon after a quick change over of players we were witness to many more impressive plays including Parkyn and Oliver Ramsey working hard to move the ball away for their opponent resulting in another goal by Freer. As the game continued one standout feature was the great communication and dedication from both the teams which was reflected in their success on both being able to score again including the success of Cohen Whinfield’s score after some fast-paced movement across the pitch. As the second half began it was clear that both teams were just as determined as they were at the start and with the aid of his teammates Broadbent was the first to take a goal for this half. Stirling were quick to retaliate, however Sickerdick was strong in his position as goalie. Play once again moved back and forth across the pitch in an evenly matched game, with both teams taking another goal each. Well done to all players on an exciting game to spectate!
