Match report

Round 6 U7s Hahndorf v Stirling Districts at Summit Sports & Recreation Park saw the first round of a trial modified game, being two simultaneous 4v4 on half-sized pitches with no goalkeepers. With the help of soccer star Harriet Bartsch, who generously assisted as our second coach, the games commenced.

Chloe Pippos, Hamish Holmes, Axel Pym, and Avery Buchanan took to pitch 2 first, with Asa Bartsch and Alfie McConville eagerly awaiting on the sidelines. Stirling Districts moved quickly and snapped the first goal. Hahndorf showed great determination and lots of little legs were running with passion! Pippos and Buchanan substituted off and Bartsch and McConville took the pitch, where everyone had touches and a few wayward kicks for goal. Once Hahndorf scored their first goal, off a lightning kick from A. Bartsch, it seemed to open the flood gates, which resulted in smiles all-round! Half time and the boys all enjoyed a well-earned orange and watermelon break.

After half time, the second group of Finn Bond, Ryan Glynn, William Moran, and Victor Bartsch took to Pitch 1, with Patrick Griggs as substitute. V. Bartsch’s defense was exceptional, and he held this part of the pitch solidly. Bond applied excellent pressure, with Moran assisting with very impressive ball control. The boys showed outstanding teamwork, with strong defense, brave saves, and fast running. Hahndorf’s determination showed, applying great pressure ensuring further goal attempts were well covered.

Bartsch’s skills were on fire, sending the ball into the back of the net to the happiness of all teammates and Hahndorf spectators. After a moment of congestion in front of Hahndorf’s goal, Bond scored the last goal for Hahndorf.

A valiant effort for all team players and although Stirling was the stronger of the teams on the day, it was wonderful to see all the smiles and sweaty faces for playing with such determination! The Hahndorf team and officials would like to thank the Stirling Districts team and officials for an exciting game.
