Round 11                                Strathalbyn vs Woodside Rams

It was another windy day at the summit, but luckily we were on pitch 1 getting a little protection from the grand stand.

It was the last weekend of the school holidays and as tradition continues players were hard to come by. With 5 of our girls out either injured or away, we were on the recruiting train.

Luckily we still managed to get enough to have 1 sub as it was needed often through the game.

The game started and both sides had fight in there hearts,  it was looking like the Woodside Rams were here to play as we continued to get lots of the possession, but wait it was a rebound from Strathalbyn and a shot on goal, missing just by a smidge down the right side of the goals, no time to relax yet.

Then a pass from our mid field, to a through ball for our attack and a shot on goal.

Boom

A goal, we were on the board, the team couldn’t believe it we were in front early in the game after all of our previous encounters us having to crawl our way back into the contest.

Strath now had the ball, but our defence quickly stole it back and passed it up the field then up again another midfield pass to our full forward a chip over the goalies head and another goal within only 5 minutes.  Strathalbyn were now on the back foot, but we were not finished yet.

Continuing our possession and pressure into our forward half another goal opportunity and again we convert.

Strathalbyn then had a few fight back moments but saved by our goalie and half time was hear and things were looking promising.

We were 3 up at the break.

A solid lolly fix with a box that seems to be getting bigger as the season goes on and then back on the pitch with some serious positive intent.

A change in our goalie and some really intent to score some more.

And score we did.

We had rattled strathalbyns cage so much they had a mid game huddle to re asses their approach which worked as they managed to get the pressure back on us.

We held them off, and held them off, but weren’t looking as threatening as we had early and Strathalbyn managed to read our play and win over a kick out and get one back on us.

Time was running thin and we were in our final minutes and a penalty against us the goalie makes a diving attempt at a save getting a hand to it but it still goes in the goal and then the final whistle blows.

Well done girls.
