This beautiful, sunny Saturday winter morning saw Hahndorf U7s take on FC Summit at Rob Kilpatrick Park in a modified 8v8 game. The first half saw William Moran, Finn Bond, and Victor Bartsch in offense, Axel Pym and Avery Buchanan in the midfield, and Patrick Griggs, Asa Bartsch, and Ryan Glynn (goalkeeper) in defense. Both sides appeared evenly matched, with the ball spending a lot of time in the midfield, with many attempts at FC Summit goal thwarted by A Bartsch and Griggs before even reaching Glynn in goal. At the 10-minute mark, Hamish Holmes was substituted on for Buchanan and the injection of fresh legs saw several unsuccessful attempts at goal by both Holmes and V Bartsch, until V Bartsch scored Hahndorf’s first and only goal for the first half!

After the halftime restructure, we saw A Bartsch, Glynn, and Holmes making up the front line, Moran and V Bartsch in midfield, and Pym, Buchanan and Bond (goalkeeper) making up Hahndorf’s defensive line. FC Summit fought back with renewed vigour and relentlessly attacked Hahndorf’s defensive line, ultimately scoring a goal for their efforts. At the 10-minute mark, Griggs was set to rejoin the team, with Glynn coming off for a rest after taking a close punt to the neck. However, soon after rejoining the side, Griggs fell with an injury to his foot, and was subbed back off for the rest of the game. After a confusing ‘own goal’ from FC Summit, the thrilling match came to an end. Hahndorf team and officials would like to thank theFC Summit team and officials for an exciting game!
