Match report

This foggy, overcast Saturday morning saw a Hahndorf U7s host Bridgewater White at Rob Kilpatrick Park. With quite a few absences, the Hahndorf side of Chloe Pippos, Alfie McConville, Ryan Glynn, Patrick Griggs, Avery Buchanan, Finn Bond, and Hamish Holmes (goalkeeper) took to the surprisingly lush, green pitch. Bridgewater White made their presence known early, with an unrelenting blitz on Hahndorf’s defensive line of Griggs, Buchanan, and goalkeeper Holmes. Hahndorf’s midfield/offense of Pippos, McConville, Glynn, and Bond worked well together to try to mitigate the attack, even affording Bond a try at goal, which was unfortunately obstructed by the Bridgewater White goalkeeper. Bridgewater White kept the pressure on, keeping Hahndorf busy throughout the first half.

Returning from the half-time break saw a change in Hahndorf goalkeeper to McConville, with Bond and Griggs making up Hahndorf’s defense, while Pippos and Glynn were joined by Holmes and Buchanan to make up the midfield/offense. Bridgewater White continued their ferocity from the first half with a barrage of goal kicks, most of which were attacked by Hahndorf’s defensive line, and the few that went through to the keeper were halted by McConville in a skillful display of attention and determination. Hahndorf’s midfielders/offense fought hard to keep the ball towards the center of the pitch but were largely outnumbered by the Bridgewater White side throughout the second half. Hahndorf team and officials would like to thank the Bridgewater White team and officials for fun game.
